TINY Bathroom need help!
Comments (16)Hello Tom, There are many Bathrooms out there that are smaller than yours. You are right, you could definitely add something to it, redesign it and make it look bigger. Everything is possible! If I was you I would not remove the bath. Just as others said some people may feel more attracted to have a bath and not a shower only. After all you can still ad a showered and have 2 in 1. When you add a mirror and pick light colours you can definitely make your Bathroom look more spacious. Light installation is also a great idea to make your space look bigger. Have you considered changing the layout for your Bathroom? Good luck with your Project!...See MoreAnyone got any good ideas for making an ex council house look cool?
Comments (61)I live in the Scottish Borders and three years ago there was a government incentive to externally insulate the houses. Due to the construction of the houses (poured concrete they couldn’t have cavity wall insulation ) . The difference to the heating bills is unbelievable but the look of the house is fabulous as there was new render put on new window sills and down pipes .i agree with the comment that just doing one house would stand out like a sore thumb but it just takes one to start the ball rolling . Maybe speak to your neighbours and they may want to do the same . All the houses in my street had the cladding and it has transformed the look of the street . I have since revamped my lounge and kitchen. There was nothing wrong with the kitchen cupboards so they where painted ,new work tops and sink . I did have a breakfast bar that took up a lot of room which I have replaced with a glass table . My next project is my bedroom which is getting refitted with new wardrobes and draws . Ex local authority houses are well built and have big rooms , they are worth buying as you can do so much with them ,I have bigger cupboards than the rooms that are in some new builds . This is my kitchen, it is so much lighter and more space . The back board is the same as the work top , so no tiles to grout ....See MoreLayout suggestions for our seaside cottage?
Comments (15)Thanks Kate. I was very against having the kitchen leading into the bathroom. Unifying the living/dining/kitchen meant we could overlap the spaces and also gain on better sight lines. Loosing the chimney wasnt overly expensive but what you gain on floorspace made up for it. Dont forget you also gain space in the rear bedroom so furniture is easier to place up their too. The central wall was a spine wall so we put in a steel envelope. We also supported the chimney in the roof space, again with steels. All building control approved. There is no door on the stairs - i also glazed the spindles to allow light through and ran up a stair-rope, giving the coastal feel. Attaching some more pics/plans. The cottage is still snug. Good luck Kate!...See MoreWallpaper stripping in old Devon cottage
