Please save my bathroom! Too much going on:-(
Comments (17)Hi Stefka, The bathroom is coming along nicely. Is the bath panel a match to the sink base? What material is the floor, vinyl or wood? If it's wood and you're not happy with the colour, have you considered either bleaching it, then colour washing it to a similar colour to the tiles around the bath or staining it darker? (Going darker will make the bathroom seem smaller.) To keep the textures and colours as simple as possible, paint the plaster walls a colour that is 2-3 shades lighter than the square wall tiles. A different colour will chop the room up more. A big mirror over the sink ledge, wall to wall, will make a huge difference to the feel of the room. It will reflect light all around and visually double the space. Colour can be added through towels and accessories like special bottles for oils and lotions. Your tiles look to be a pinky beige so look at neutrals or pale turquoise. Dunelm Mill has a good selection http://www.dunelm.com/product/so-soft-zero-twist-towels-1000016871 or http://www.dunelm.com/product/egyptian-cotton-bathroom-collection-b01010 If you are overlooked and want privacy throughout the day and night, why not consider waterproof plantation shutters. They will give you light if you angle the louvres and total privacy at night. http://www.purelyshutters.co.uk/window-shutters/plantation-shutters/waterproof Because your window is in the shower area, fabric will rot and mildew very easily. Plastic shutters can be wiped down with ammonia and water in the course of cleaning the bathroom and allow access to the window for cleaning and ventilation....See MoreKitchen - too much orange???
Comments (14)Hello randjb, One thing that might be an idea is not to have the orange splashback wrapping around the hob unit and instead one sleek sheet... Painting the door and skirtings, architrave etc to blend with the walls is a good idea and also the rad... The eye then takes in the kitchen as a whole... Don't shy away from your selection... Celebrate it.. but stick to this one accent colour only.. Perhaps introduce some vintage glass centrepiece in orange for the dining table, something semi translucent... Could you make more of the pendant by adding more to this? Carry a bit more orange into the living area... The above centre piece and these lamp bases are Murano glass but something like these could be gr8! : ))...See MorePOLL: How much velvet is too much velvet?
Comments (15)One either loves velvet or hates it, there isn't really a middle ground here. Colour and texture is everything - same piece in subtle, smooth tones can be absolutely spectacular, but change it to frenzy busy pattern in loud colours and you can end up with kitsch written all over it. It generally depends what you are aiming for and the room you want to use it in. I find velvet particularly good for classic and eclectic styles. Velvet, just like tweed is timeless and can really bring a design together or simply ruin in, so use it wisely "young Jedi's" ;) All being said, we love it!...See MoreToo much Greige!!!
Comments (14)Hi. I think it's a lovely room. I agree with the rug, the cushions and the curtains. I don't find the seating blends into the panelling too much tbh. It would be good to see a pic with the new art. I think the chair needs to be angled towards the sofa and the sideboard looks too close to the the fire. I don't think the mirror works that well and I think something circular or circular'ish in shape would work i.e. a sunburst. I also think metallics are needed for the mirror etc to give the room a lift. I'd dress the side table and the tray. I'd also add some books to the bookcase and try grouping some photos. A couple of darker accents would be good....See MoreKim conley
