Bath or no bath
Comments (9)I am surprised that the consensus is to keep the bath. We are having a similar dilemma as we are turning a bedroom into a bathroom and neither of us have used a bath in years so we are considering having a nice spacious bathroom with just a shower. I thought most people these days took showers but am also aware that if we needed to sell, a bath might be better (with a shower). Someone also said that a shower upstairs will always leak and cause problems? What do others think?...See Moreneed to make a 2 bed 1 bath maisonette into a 3 bed 2 bath
Comments (5)Thanks Zoe, I agree with you re toilet being more of a priority. The amount of squabbles that would save... It feels a little backwards to most other properties that have a toilet downstairs and the full bathroom upstairs but I can’t see another way to do it and get 3 double bedrooms upstairs. At the moment my twins have L shaped bunks but in 7 years they’ll probably be over 6’ tall so I want to have enough space for 2 singles too. 🤔 With your other idea I could move the wall over another 10cm but it would be right up against the window frame, would that look ok?...See MoreHomebuyer Survey detected structural issues!
Comments (8)Many years ago I had a job where I saw plenty of reports. These particular observations were not standard comments on every report (some comments for example about drains used to be as they can’t inspect). My understanding is homebuyers is quite limited and is really only an extended look over a house. Basic valuation is a very quick look round to establish the price. Structural report involves pulling back carpet, maybe drilling in walls and a lot more involved. Not every seller will be happy for your surveyor to do these things to their home. By you choosing the homebuyers report makes me think you wanted more detailed information about the property condition. This is likely to be your most expensive purchase. If the surveyor has recommended strongly a structural engineer inspects the property I personally wouldn’t ignore this. Yes you could have surveyor go round and all be fine potentially wasting their fee or it could identify a problem potentially saving you thousands. In either case it would give you peace of mind about what you are actually buying....See MoreSmall bathroom, window bath/shower issue
Comments (6)I'm just about to buy a hour with EXACTLY the same issue (and exactly the same floor plan!!!) I have looked online at turning the bath around to go under the window & moving the toilet but it seems like quite a big job so I'm wondering if I could move the bath to immediately inside the door and the sink up near the toilet?!...See MoreOcean Clarke
