L shaped living room/dining room

How can I make this space warmer as I have only chosen the carpet and sofa and these are shades of dark grey and a silver grey respectively. I am used to creams and warm colours and am unsure how to bring a warm scheme into basically cool colours. I haven't chosen curtains wall colours or accent colours yet so am open to suggestions

I don't have any pictures as I don't have any of the new stuff yet. I have workmen doing some minor alterations and then the carpet should be fitted after that. I am also waiting for the new sofa which will not be ready until end Sept/Oct

Hi rinq, Thank you so much for your time and suggestions. We do actually need a 6-8 seater and that's one of the reasons we are getting a new table and were thinking to get something that would add some warmth and cosyness to the living room. Do you think perhaps a rug under the Mango table would solve the orange shade that might clash with the flooring? Also I do like the second table. However, our preference is more towards warmer more earthy Colors. Are there any other Color chairs that you would suggest? Thanks again Meli Thanks

Hey Hannah, You've smashed this layout. Everything is sitting in the right areas, but we do have some suggestions as to how a few pieces are placed. 1. the sofa - we think you should flip it so that the longer end is facing the wall. You can then pop the accent chair, lamp & maybe a side table against the wall with a piece of art hanging right behind them. This way you make use of the light coming through the window, cover the radiator but also create an intimate corner for reading or chilling in general on the other end. 2. the L-shaped desk should be against that wall. Moving in & out of that space - especially of 2 people are using it at once - will be a slight nuisance. The backs of your monitor & laptop screens will also be on show throughout (potentially even when you're dining) with cables dangling from the ends. We think that by positioning yourselves facing the wall, you can enjoy a piece of hung artwork or shelving with your favourite bits & bobs but also you'll be hiding a plethora of techy bits which become an eyesore in a well designed multi-faceted space. 3. lastly, you seem to want a dining table with both chairs & a bench for seating. We think your dining chairs should be against the wall (for added visual height) while the bench sits opposite them. You can then zone the space with rugs as you have that fit the space perfectly. All in all, we love what you've done with the layout & hope our suggestions help you finish it up nicely!

Hague blue can look good with a variety of colours: dusky pink like Setting Plaster, or a type of India yellow for example. However it depends on how much colour you would like to have. You can introduce these other colours using furnishings rather than paint colours and stick to a neutral like Dimity for the walls. On the other hand if you like the drama of the blue and want to achieve a flow throughout the l-shaped space, then continue with the Hague blue. I haven't really answered your question, but I hope my ramblings help. Good luck.

I look at your pics and am not seeing your kitchen as disproportionately small. I do see that some rethinking of the shower/utility is needed to enable the removal of the entry to the shower room from the living zone. If the utility sink could be relocated, that wall could be an entry point. Using a slider would mean minimizing the space needed for a door, and would still allow for a cupboard there if you wanted. If you are feeling the kitchen needs some adjustment would an island, with access to storage cupboards on both sides, be worth considering? Leaving your major appliances in their current locations.

It's hard to advise with out seeing the exact colours, shapes and styles of any of the furniture or the rooms.
Ideally we would also be looking at how much light the rooms gets!

White is always great to pair with grey so without seeing anything I would recommend white on the walls and then a nice warm accent colour like orange or a warm rich purple or navy blue.
Will be better to come back with pictures when you have some.. And we can look in more detail. :) all the best
