Hi Gemma, We sell this ottoman in our shop and it will shortly be going onto our website. There is a choice of fabrics available including the velvet it's upholstered in now. I will confirm the price but it's approximately £390 for one 80cm square.

Honestly, £1,000 isn't that bad for the laborious and hideous work they have to do, but get a couple of quotes. I wouldn't do the stairs - sandblasting is too strong for them anyway and I think you can still see the nice wood grain in them. Perhaps you can put a runner up them. Do the ceiling beams, the lintel over the fireplace and all the dark beams imbedded in the wall. I can't really see the church seat, the seat in the fireplace or the doors, but the door in the Somerset Cottage photo with the carpet you like looks good, doesn't it? Show me more photos of the church seat and the seat in the fireplace, but you could paint the church seat the same colour as the walls, or the same as the trim in eggshell or a slightly darker shade of the wall paint..... That would lighten it up. I still don't know what your style is! Do any of these appeal? We can find the actual products once you give an indication of what you like! Remember that Rome wasn't built in a day.. Neither the house you want to make a home... If the house feels right. With your Head and your heart, location. Then if it's the house for you it will work.. Move in and adjust each day... Yes you can put your Mark on the house, yes it will be your HOME... But live with it for at least a short while.. Don't be hasty to paint.. See where the sunshine..shines...See where it makes dull on a dark day...So you Can add a mirror maybe to reflect the daylight.. Don't make the pennies stretch any further than they are.. Remember that sadly the bills have to come first..!!!.... Improvise pieces to fit and...if you have to save for the right item....Then save..!!! it will be more practical in the end , rather than buying for the sake of it and having to buy another a few months down the line... Don't fill every room with furniture.... My biggest mistake... Use a piece like a sideboard and think practically the uses.... Is it big enough.. One more draw or cupboard would have better than two smaller ones...don't be afraid to add old stuff that we all now reuse..paint it ...add your own art work... It's a long journey.. To find the destination of all your dreams... And when you feel you have achieved what you have done...then sit back and enjoy all your hard work. And live in your HOME... Enjoy. Relax.. And above all have fun...

Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement.

I can't do pics as my house is a mess but I have bought beautiful things from ebay and local forums for silly money. We got a huge L-shaped velvet covered sofa from Restoration Hardware for £300 inc delivery (near perfect condition and would have cost over $5k new), a huge solid wood apothecary coffee table also in perfect condition for £75, an occasional chair from Crate & Barrel (also perfect) for £90. Literally thousands of pounds of furniture for less than £500. I look carefully for things that are poorly photographed or ill-described as these often get overlooked. However, recently I was helping my in-laws sell some of their furniture as they were downsizing and I couldn't believe how hard it was to sell. They had bought everything 10-15 years ago from Harrods (eek!) and it was all in perfect condition and extremely well made, and in the end we were selling things for prices similar to the above which seemed such a shame. One other tip is to look at the sofa.com microsite on ebay - they have great things at very good discounts and they are available immediately.
