Hi, could you please tell me: Who is the manufacturer of these cabinets, what is the color, and what is the wood type? They look similar to the (Mouser Moss-colored maple cabinets we are looking at getting.) Thanks! Beautiful job.

These are Mouser Cabinets in a custom paint color with glazing. The painted cabinets are Maple. thanks.

You need to consider 2 important points. 1. Raw material sizing will restrict how high you can make your units. You also need to consider transport. Its one thing to make a 3m high tall unit (not possible as most material sheets max out at around 2.4-2.5m) but how do you transport it. How do you bring it round corners in houses etc? 2. Special sizing and slab painted doors are not what you would find in sheds. You need to look at independents or bespoke cabinet makers and yes you would have to pay for specially made furniture.

A room that size has great potential, but it is too big to operate in effectively, it needs to be broken up into defined functional areas. Simply turning the island unit 90 degrees would mean that one side is the dining area the other the working area, you could then focus on how the kitchen can be made to work effectively, regularly used items need to be to hand, while the dining side can be more relaxed and accommodate units for longer term storage. I cannot say which end should be kitchen or dining area because I don't know where your windows and potential views are, so you need to choose, but a professional kitchen design would easily organise it. Remember, when a designer offers you a potential solution it should surprise you and make your spirits lift.

As @Jonathan says budgeting for a building project is really difficult at present as prices just keep going up for all materials and its true that a good installer can make a cheap kitchen look hi end as much as a poor installer can make a hi end kitchen look thrown together. But what you do get with a decent quality kitchen is cabinets that can take the weight of solid worktops (would help if fitters knew how a leg socket is fitted) and are made square so the doors line up and it will still look good for years, if you have decent quality drawers and hinges then the drawers will still run smooth and doors don't drop. There's lots of independants (like myself) who can design and supply kitchens in lots of different price ranges and being truly independant I source my doors from many different manufacturers and cover all door styles from traditional wooden doors to modern true handleless. I also have cabinets ranging from flat pack to bespoke rigid units for different budgets.
