Painting a clock frame

I want to paint a clock frame teal. The frame appears to be a metal case or plastic. How do I go about painting it? What do I need to do to prep the frame and what type of paint do I need to use?

You can use pretty much any spray paint as it works as well on plastic as metal. Have done it lots of times. Our kitchen clock has been many colours and is about the be changed again. Car paint offers the biggest choice of colours! You can then laquer it for longevity. We don't bother with laquer on items that don't get a lot of wear and tear, we reserve this for kitchen units etc that can easily get scratched.

If sides of edges are ok, my advice :don't frame it when you want to have it more natural (if you want to keep modern design of the room). You can use a frame in a natural wood colour if you want to have something in more traditional style, for example a central place on the wall and antiques around:) This is a question of your individual style and taste:) People sometimes like to put a frame in colours of furnitures to keep their place together because colours sometimes can fix together things with completely different moods of shapes. Anyway, the last word is what you like the best. When I look at the picture of your room I will not use any frame for the painting.

@Tani H-S Most professionals that refurbish uPVC windows will spray. You need the right equipment, you must prepare the surfaces properly before applying and most importantly you need the right paint (that properly bonds to the surface, has UV protection and thermal movement elasticity). Hi, I'd certainly get a couple of really cheap mirrors first to see if you like the affect but personally I don't think it will look odd, just adds to the drama. Just had a quick browse on Argos, something simple like these might work: http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6233541 http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4023557 http://www.argos.co.uk/product/4025610 If you decide to ditch the mirrors idea then I think something else reflective in the room would look good to complement the clock. Maybe a mirrored trinket box on the drawers.
