Do you keep cut flowers in your home?
Comments (33)A house without flowers, to me is just a house, not a home. A room without flowers may wear an expensive ballgown but will be bereft of the loveliest jewels to set it off. All rooms need something living. Even just a single Rose or a sprig of ivy. Fill your garden with flowers & foliage. Tipsy tulips are perhaps my favourite but then I see a bowl of garden Roses & Alchemillimollis, or a glass jar of cow parsley or a jug of white dog daisies, or.......See MorePOLL: Where do you keep your bin?
Comments (23)We have a small bin under the sink for non recycling things, black plastic, the pods from my coffee machine, dirty kitchen roll etc., which before 5p a bag started, used to be lined with a shopping bag, now I save the planet by buying a roll of bin bags! We also have a small food compost bin next to it, which I buy special bags for from amazon. Then, in the garage, which is next to the utility room we have the paper, tin, glass, plastic recycling boxes, the big food bin with the strong lid and the larger general waste bin which is collected every fortnight. I hate seeing bins outside houses and think that the new bin system which requires such a collection of bins has meant some terraced houses in our area have gone down in value, the residents are not always tidy and the council should provide better ways of collecting and dealing with rubbish when people find it hard to store it out of sight. Seeing bins around is one of my big pet hates!...See MoreWhat are you glad you put in your kitchen, and what can you do without
Comments (123)Thank you for everyone's comments, had no idea this thread would prove so popular when I started it. We are plastering this week and we have finally bought most things for the kitchen. I did find some real 'finds' though if anyone is looking. Not sure where you are based, but regarding electrical goods we researched all our own and narrowed down our list, and once we had that we looked online for the best prices for each appliance. Instead of buying from lots of different places we took it to Bentalls, who not only matched, but also cost us less, and beat some online prices with a good 'deal' price they also then will hold on to them until you need them, but if anything goes wrong you have 'bentalls' rather than several online dealers to return items to. RDO Appliances also do this if there is one near you, but i'd advise you to research prices first. Another thing we found was inserts for the kitchens. Through our kitchen supplier these were expensive, bin inserts, pull out drawers, pull out larders, even the pop up sockets, sourced seperately through ebay and online we managed to save quite a lot of money by doing this, so our fitter will still have the right things on the day, but we are not getting the inserts from the supplier. What else..... erm kitchen worktop, unbelievably the exact same worktop, same material, same cut outs etc.. same sizes differed between suppliers by 3k! so do shop around for your quartz and granite....See MoreWhich kitchen window size do you prefer ?
Comments (21)Many thanks for all responses, never knew one window size took so much thought, been struggling with this one, been looking at loads of picture on internet and one thing we have now decided on is a low sill, so this leaves us 4 options: 1) Still kitchen designers and architects favorite which no one else seems to like ! 2) Same as 1) but with cupboards at 120 to make same as tall untis on right and by some fluke leaves same gap either side of window 3) Sink no longer centered and encompasses draining board and bit more 4) Same as 3) but tiny bit wider so gap both side of window to units is the same, window is now pretty hues at 1200 x 1200 Any further votes much appreciated as now we have taken high sill out of equation most peoples favorite has gone which is a bit of a concern. Many thanks, thinks it's time for a drink ! Lawrence...See MoreGlove Poppit
