Thanks, kayq93, I am really pleased with it. It's a South facing room with big windows and gets lots of light so is able to take the black and grey. I painted the dining room window sills black to mirror the granite counter in the kitchen; my husband wasn't too sure but I think it looks fab. My husband is a voracious reader and we found a wall- mounted glass & chrome shelving unit which accommodates a surprising number of books but is stylish and unobtrusive, I think.

You could look at Day and Night blinds which look a little like shutters but a little lighter as there is no frame. I'd add a bit of colour to add some zing and bring it to life, especially in the kitchen, looks a bit flat just blue and grey. The complement of blue is orange but other colours would work. Orange and yellow together an option. Don't worry too much about 'rules'. I love colour and too co-ordinated can look like a showroom rather than a home. Choose something you love, think of food (think fruit) colours, I think they look good in a kitchen.

I would suggest that you have a luscious tracked pole like those from Walcot House and have a curtain that stacks on the right side of the window only. The tracked pole will give you a pole look but with the single draw option of a track, so that the curtain and pole can be supported all the way along the wall. The Walcot House pleating studs also give a fantastic modern finish to the curtain heading. I would then suggest a cascade roman blind set at the same height as the pole. By having a cascade rather than a standard pleat blind is the pleats are the feature. This picture shows the pleating studs. We have used them with rings on the clients existing pole but the heading can also be achieved with a tracked pole. This a lovely modern and very classy look. I hope that you find this helpful.
