Great space. Not sure this is big enough but childproof & good price. White gloss. Two of my friends have this table. http://www.next.co.uk/homeware/dining-room/furniture/10. Dar Lighting do some great big shade pendants.

Paula, I totally agree with you - I hate sitting at the island to eat. It's ok for just having a coffee but I prefer to sit at a proper table to have my dinner! We are in the middle of re-doing our kitchen and I've insisted on having a proper table even though we're having a 900 wide peninsula. We're putting wall units on the floor to the other side of the peninsula to create more storage. The doors to these units will be glass, with lights inside - makes it more of a display area for nice crockery etc. Not a waste of money if it makes you happy in my opinion!

Wider tables are great. My table. is 120 wide, it fills the room nicely and more importantly there is room in the middle for serving plates. You only feel like you are further apart because you are not used to it because generally restaurant tables are small in order to fit more in
