Hello, What kind of granite is this picture showing

We like black granite with not too many specks or veins. We like this one. Can you please let me know what this granite is called

Thanks! They are great counters but are Black Soapstone not granite. Soapstone is heat and stain resistant. It scratches more easily than granite but then simply hand sanded and re-oiled with mineral oil instead of a sealant.

My other suggestion is to ask your countertop people if you can pick from actual slabs at the warehouse. The loads that come in from the quarry often have wide variation.

Also when picking out your actual slabs, if there is a big flaw you want to avoid maybe they can make certain sink goes there. Alternatively, since it's natural stone, sometimes clients see a feature they like and want to keep.

I don't envisage the taps being more than two tiles width at most above the sink so I'm hoping it'll be ok splash-wise. I'm having a glass panel fitted to the top of the console too. The wide sink idea is purely taste, I just don't think I like square or round but oval is still an option. I'm thinking mini-Butler style or trough. Hadn't really thought about water pressure. A few more pic ideas attached to peruse. I'm beginning to wish I just wanted a bland white suite now!!!

Hello haylescakes, I think it just need a bit of care.. I would definitely not mix it.. Granite, like Marble or any other luxury stone, even woods do need some attention.. I have bamboo and that too requires a bit of effort.... Wiping down and a regular re oil.. However I think it is really really worth it. Also it does last and would definitely look all the better for the little bit of effort.. I also made several chopping boards with off cuts!! Gr8 way to use up the material and useful too! For colours I would look to finding something lighter than black.. I think you could really go for something amazing... Firstly though think of the colours in the kitchen... If it's a blank canvas, so to speak and any colour would work... Ie you have white worktops... Then really go for something striking... I have just found a few colours from a company online that are quite interesting..I'd say do some research into pricing and ask for samples.. Or visit a showroom to get an idea... Get as many samples as you need before deciding.. I think the more natural looking as possible... Some of them can look manufactured.. You could also add a small splash back panel.. Narrow is quite tasteful, the have a really chalky matt paint on the walls and matt paint for the cupboards..... Lastly think of finish.. squared off edges are in my eyes more tasteful.. but you can look at that and decide what you like the look of :)) Cosmic black... Siena BordeauxVerde MarinaceKinawa

Hi, you're clearly not looking for all matching furniture. I think the Hay chairs work well with the table. And I do think you could mix them with the Wishbone chairs too. I'm not entirely sure the wood colours of the table and the Wishbone chairs match, but maybe you've already put them together and they do go well? Anyway... if you love them, go for it! The choice of colour is personal to you. I would go for black, to tie in with the black seats of the Wishbone chairs. But red or any of the other colours could work too. The colour you choose needs to be repeated in something else though, to tie the room together so to speak. Could be a different shade of that colour, could be in art, cushions, curtains, wall paint, rug, lighting...
