Play Room - Colour Choice for North East Facing Room
Comments (9)Hi Debbie. I hope it's all going well so far for you! You have some great ideas. When north light is involved I would stay clear of whites with green or blue undertones or infant, those colours. You want to enhance the warm. Try a white with a red or yellow undertone. This will easily pair with yellow so great on the rug. I would choose this white first and then when a test patch is up (or you have one on paper) I would look at a suitable green to work with it. For adding fun and to break up the block colour I would add a mural/sticker to the wall (someone like ink vinyl) they are reasonable priced and very easy not only to put on, but more importantly, to remove in a few years without leaving a mark as tastes change! :) You have a great start to the space and I look forward to seeing your ideas come together. Well done...See MoreBest colours for south east facing kitchen
Comments (4)I think that is a very good question, that I was about to set myself! I have read that such a light can make things a bit blue, so it is best to go with the flow, and use bluish tinged colours. Certainly, the room I am sitting in which faces south-east, looks good with its light blue walls. The trouble is, I am not sure that blue is a good friend of food! What do the others out there think?...See MoreHelp with kitchen colours/ design in north / north west facing room??!
Comments (2)Hi! We have a north facing kitchen/dining/living area with a patio facing west and a window on the east side. We went for a lighter colour (slipper satin) on the kitchen units as they are at the 'back' of the room (ie you enter the kitchen from the hallway, then the living/dining area is at the patio/garden end). It is a lovely soft off white and doesn't look cream because of the cooler light north facing rooms get. We opted for Drop Cloth (also F&B) on walls which a lot of people comment on as it looks nice and warm and not too dark nor too pale. Our accent colour on the island/kitchen peninsula is Railings as I have other dark blue accents in my furnishings. If you are going for Downpipe on the island, I would possibly go for Strong White on your units as Ammonite can look quite cold. I have used S White on both walls and woodwork in other areas of my home and love it. Farrow & Ball told me it suits north light well, as does Wimborne White - which is a lovely warm white. Have you tried a sample of it at all? As for the tiles, I much prefer the blanc ones, think they look more modern. I have attached pics of my kitchen and hallway (which has strong white). I also have an instagram page Dekko Bird you could see more pics on. Hope this helps a little! keira x...See MorePaint dilemma for our North-East facing and relatively dark kitchen
Comments (7)The problem is everything looks different in different lights. I recall a poster saying the Wevet on her walls had a distinct pink tint. Mine definitely doesn’t. I would class mine as a white with the very merest hint of blue/grey. So subtle that if you weren’t looking at it critically you wouldn’t even notice it. Mine looks the same colour in both daylight and when the downlights are on during the evening....See MoreAnnie Par
