hey! I'm considering putting concrete worktops in my new kitchen and i would like to know your opinion about it. is it a good material? what about mantenance? marks? woukd you recommend it? thank you!!!

If you can sketch a floorplan with measurements showing doorways/windows that would help. Sorry, but I think it sounds like a lot to fit it's that size of room. My kitchen is that size and I have no range/American fridge freezer/washer/drier.

Update: we bottled out and went for traditional wooden gates in the end! We're delighted with them (and so is our dog who can see right through!). Took the advice to remove the pillar lights and placed uplighters at the bottom of the pillar and planted roses under them. As always, thank you for all your wonderful comments and help.

I actually like the wood inside, it suits the house, and don’t think you need to paint it if you chose to paint outside. I’m a bit on the fence re exterior as i do quite like the wood but think a lighter colour would really lift it. If its not too rude i think changing the yellowy cream paint to a complementary stone colour would look lobely and maybe choose a colour for the front door

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your comments - so good for others to comment with a fresh eye. Fridge / Freezer - I see what you mean about swapping it with the pantry cupboard in the corner by the door. I did originally plan to have it that way round but as I only have 1.3m of wall in that corner , it wasn't enough to accommodate a fridge/freezer plus a larder cabinet to one side. Where the fridge freezer/larder cabinet combo is on the design, I currently have a makeshift food cupboard re-purposed from an old bedroom wardrobe ( it's been there for 25 years - I was way ahead of the current pantry trend !!) , so I'm used to wandering over there even though it is a distance from the main section of the kitchen. current kitchen layout - food cupbaord against the far wall The reason I'd planned to replace it is beacuse it has no drawers and is more shaker style so didn't really fit in the more modern look I'm going for. I get what you mean about the american Fridge freezer looking dated but I realy love the fact that it provides ice and filtered water which you can access extrenally - which we currently use a lot and love ! I'm not sure I could do without that feature now. Unless there are integrated fridge freezers that have that internally ? Then I could have the slab fronts. Distance between Aga and island - I'm planning on maintaining the same distance between these as is there at the moment. It works well. Drawers - The island has 3 x 800mm double drawers. Hoping that will be enough. Hob on island - this is an extra really for when we turn the Aga off during heatwaves in the summer so it wouldn't be in constant use. Wasn't keen on a very deep island as I have friends who say their is too deep at 1.2m . Maybe I should re-think that. Island - good idea to go full width on the seating area. Don't need those tiny cabinets either end as I have plenty of storage elsewhere. Extraction - the aga ovens vent externally via that pipe. I was wondering about whether I should have extraction as well for the Aga top. It does generate a lot of grease ! Bridging cabinet between glass wall cabinets - see what you mean. That can go . Thank you SO MUCH everyone _ I really appreciate your thoughts. Any recommendations on integrated Freidge freezers with ice and filtered water would be fab.
