Monochrome bathroom: chandelier or no?

Hi Houzzers,

Here's a photo of my monochrome bathroom - the basics are done but we're looking to accessorise it and make it a bit more luxe. I like bathroom chandeliers and have shortlisted the Endon Kristen (chrome and crystal) as the centre light fitting, but I'm having some doubts. Do you think it will work in this space or look at odds with it? (FYI we're likely to put a black velvet curtain across the laundry cupboard you see at right.)

Here is a (not-great) rendering. Ceiling height is 250cm and the Endon Kristen is 30cm across, 25cm deep.

Lovely bathroom. A chandelier would definitely add a bit of sophistication and charm. Here's another option you could go for that would fit in nicely with the clean lines you have there.

I think the bathroom is a bit plain as it is, so adding the chandelier would help.

Hello Emmeline, Well... I'd have to say probably anything that isn't my current... Hasn't had a AJ Eye makeover sadly... For products I really love Aesop, Ortigia and for the look... I'd say marble wet room floor and wall to ceiling with a large square really plain wall hung white sink and wall hung loo. If it needs it a plain sheet of glass as a screen but otherwise nothing.... Nickel taps Lefroy Brooks or Watermark collection Zen with marble round disc taps or the London range wall mounted.. An old style radiator in nickel plate or painted to look like old silver.. possibly a little wooden stool.. Marble shelf built into the walls and a hidden marble door with shelving for other bottles and cotton wool balls.. Very lastly an old white venetian glass mirror with little glass flowers maybe.. : ))

Personally, I prefer the living room, as it is the heart of the home. Cool lamps and chandeliers in bathrooms are a nice and unexpected statement too.

Yes a decent sized chandelier, some framed prints on that big wall, a nice roman blind with some pattern and a shiny chrome towel rack over the bath loaded with soft fluffy towels and you'll be luxed right up!

Is that an ikea sink unit too? If so then I'd switch out the handles for glass handles something like this

But I hadn't considered glass ones - will keep that in mind for my other cabinets - thanks!

I think that the suggested chandelier wouldn't be quite right. It looks very glam, whereas your bathroom seems a little more edgy. I think something more modern with a black frame would work better ( I wouldn't go for anything with crystals). I'd also add a print or two on the wall + a blind with a bit of modern pattern. I think it's a really cool bathroom but it just needs a bit more to complete the look.

Hi Dan, sorry for the delay. The tiles are by TopCer, a Portuguese maker, and their website is here: http://www.topcer.com/ I wrote to them by email to find out which distributors were near me, they replied very quickly. I bought mine from http://www.towerceramics.co.uk/ in London.
