Comments (34)Induction? No No No No No No. I don't know how many times I need to say it but please don't choose induction. It uses electro-magnetisation to heat food. I have a 21 year old daughter who has had a pacemaker since she was 4 years old. Magnets stop pacemakers. My daughter cannot live without her pacemaker and I'm sure there are many older people in the same boat. Induction hobs are not safe, they are potentially deadly. I can see the benefits of induction but manufacturers need to bring out more 'mixed' hobs (2 induction, 2 normal) to allow all the members of the family to use them. Just because it might not be relevant now, can you predict the future? What if one of your parents came round to babysit and needed to use the hob? We need to get the message out there. More and more people every year are fitted with medical devices that are affected by magnetic pulses but there doesn't seem to be any recognition from manufacturers. Comments (8)Hi Firstly, if induction hob is not in your budget how much you want to spend on the hob? I doubt the very good quality gas hobs will be a lot of cheaper than same size induction hob. Secondly, if you decide to move gas hob you need to take into consideration running gas to the new position as well as type and position of extractor hood and possibility to duct it outside. I would advise you to decide how much you want to spend, discuss labour cost on all options with your contractor and this will leave you with the budget on the hob.
