Magnolia & grey tones?

Hall, stairs, landing, sitting room, dining room, office.
Shall, I try to find a grey for below the dado rail to go with the magnolia?

Hi Tom!

Thanks for pursuing our issue with magnolia and grey. We have abandoned this conundrum as we have to live with an inherited expensive green carpet, which we know is a tricky thing to have to accommodate. Roll on the day it wears out.

We love our Houzz app and are so impressed with the interaction we get and invaluable information. We just can't stop telling all our friends about it!

Hi, I've written about magnolia and the colour psychology behind it on my blog. The article features an interview with colour expert and consultant Karen Haller and features lots of advice about living with magnolia and how to incorporate other colours into the decor scheme and what colours work best. You might find some of the advice useful when deciding what colours to choose. I took Karen's advice when accessorising my home and choose green accents and it looked absolutely lovely against the magnolia and my big brown sofa. I have since bought a flat which was also mostly magnolia. In the livingroom I kept two walls magnolia and again took Karen's advice and opted to paint two walls in a really warm shade of green. It looks and feels really lovely. I would never have thought of pairing green with magnolia before speaking with Karen. I think it depends on your property and what goes best with the house. You will have more joints for weeds to come through and for pointing to deteriorate with cobbles, so that's a consideration. The cobbles are smaller and harder to walk on, whereas the sandstone gives larger flatter areas. Sandstone has it's own problems depending on which type you go for, and, there are quite a few. You can get honed sandstone, which is flatter than the non-honed, providing you with better joints. We have Indian Sandstone ( unhoned ), looks great but the pointing is a mare due to the uneven nature of the stone, but looking at the fossils in it and the different colours is great. Nothing will stop the algae though, so you will need to jet wash.................ours has been treated withe everything you can throw at it and it still has to be done at least twice a year. I don't think it's just us, as, our next door neighbour also has sandstone, a different type to us, but they jet wash as much as we do.

Choosing a grey colour from the same HUE Family neigbourhood as your Magnolia would mean the colours have an organic connection. But as mentioned above magnolia is a very generic word. Colours described as Magnolia can come from the middle of the Yellow-Red Hue Family or even into the Yellow Hue Family. The thing with choosing greys from the Yellow-Red Hue Family is they can shift notably purple in imbalanced lighting. So I would begin a search from the Yellow Hue Family. Cornforth White & Ammonite, Salt & Stoke are from the Yellow Hue Family too.

Hello, I wouldn’t pair them 2 colours personally, do you have any white paint to add to the magnolia to make it lighter? Or add some of the grey to the magnolia to make the tones match better? X
