What do you think about artificial plants and flowers? Useful in the winter months?

No, I still prefer real plants and flowers

No ! Sorry, its a big no from us.. real planting is the only way...there's planting for every possible environment so why would u choose artificial?

Hey Kusten! another Cardiff lady, yay!! I love fresh flowers in the house as well, I have a few plants (orchids and Anthurium included) but what I do about once every 3 weeks is go to the flower market in Grangetown (on Bessemer Road) - I think it's opened from 5am to 9am (silly hours, I know). You can buy flowers for a lot less than in a florist and you can get those that tend to last longer than 5 days - like kangaroo paws or bird of paradise flower or Gerbera with ferns and grass- really easy to make lovely arrangements with them. I love the arrangements you've made - you've actually given me a few ideas. Give the market a try, you never know, you may like what they have (and their prices!)

Great article on bathroom plants...it's also worth thinking about them as a hanging plant from the ceiling or a small plant wall hanging flush against the wall, perhaps opposite end of bath from the shower? Yes something in the potato family like Carolina said. I planted a blue flowering ornamental climber from the potato family in my first ever garden and the flower was just like that but blue. Remember since I thought it funny it was potato :)

I use artificial flowers and stems indoors. They seemed quite eye wateringly expensive but everybody comments on them and tbh you make your money back very quickly if you were to buy the same quantity in fresh. That's not to say I don't have fresh flowers though but they're a lot more limited! I've only tried faux plants once, I had buxus in really large pots outside my front door earlier this year. Anyway due to the pot size I didn't put them in soil so we lost one in a storm after a few months...
