Hi,
Beautiful Staircase!
I would like to know what material was used for the top of these steps.
Im putting a similar staircase in and undecided on what material I want to use.

Glad you like the staircase. Just to confirm, do you mean the material used for the stairs themselves or the bannisters?

Hi Adam, Really great kitchen you've found, love the earthy colours and texture of the doors. We are a German Kitchen supplier and one of our new doors has the look you might be after. I am not sure what the exact finish of this kitchen you have found but take a look at the images attached and see if it is what you might be looking for. Option 1 - Stone / ceramic effect laminate / edges of the doors can come in Stainless steel Option 2 - Stone Veneer / back side black satin lacquer It could be something similar to our option 1 which is a laminate textured door. Warmfloor 24V underfloor heating...does anyone have it?

Of course It's correct to say that in the past less efficient traditional systems needed 150-200W per m² to do the job , but that rather misses the point of modern low-energy systems. Typically traditional electric underfloor heating systems would consist of a single 240v cable attached to a net, laid to snake its way across a floor surface. The cable would have to be heated to as much as 60-70C in order to produce enough heat to warm the volume of air in the room above, so power consumption had to be as high as 150-200W per m². The new low-energy systems heat the entire surface of the floor rather than a thin cable width strip. As this means that it is the whole floor which is radiating heat upward, this means that the element can do the job when heated to the much lower temperature of 26C. This only requires 40-50W per m².. Less energy is used to heat more floor surface. In addition, the Warmfloor system in particular benefits from the self-regulating effect of the element only ever drawing the energy required at any particular point to maintain the set temperature across the floor. So an area in warm sunlight will draw less power than an area next to an open door, etc. Less energy is required to maintain temperature. I'm not sure why it would seem to be more likely that low energy connections would overheat than 240v connections drawing more power. A low-voltage, low energy system with a heating element that can be nailed through with no effect is pretty much problem-free, which is why we can give a 20 year warranty with no worries.

You have some lovely ideas Jane, you definitely have an eye for design. I love your log burner, perfect for those cosy winter evenings. In terms of the wall colour I think a nice deep blue - the Little Greene paint company do a great Royal Navy colour I believe it’s colour 257,which would look fabulous. I personally think the blue would work on a feature wall with the remaining walls in a more subtle tone, like an off white or very light grey as darker tones can make the space look smaller. I like the idea of combining two types of chairs, I think this concept truly works - Vitra have been doing this within their lifestyle shots for a long time. With regards to dining tables, I think an Oak table will work brilliantly alongside the items you are working towards, I especially think it will tie in with your floor and kitchen area.
