Powder Room... this red has got to go!

What are your thoughts/ideas? I can't replace the vanity right now (dark wood with black granite top and gold faucet). I'm thinking of Sherwin Williams denim for the walls and using a rope mirror and replacing the sconces with nautical type lighting. Would love to hear your ideas!

What colour walls to go with red blinds in living room
Comments (22)Make the blinds disappear by painting the window wall the same red. Otherwise they will look a bit 'bitty'. You can also pick up the red with assessories and introduce other colours also with artwork. I think lots of cream or natural linen. IKEA do a lovely striped sofa which has a thin red stripes which would give it a French country feel. Comments (51)Pam Gascoyne Hi Tom, As the focal point of the room is quite definitely the fireplace perhaps you should start with making something welcoming and eyecatching be it with candles, fake but really convincing burning gas coals in the grate or even good lighting it needs to really glow. The room is not really huge and perhaps keeping the walls light with, say, a warm very light grey with similar colour linen curtains or white venetian blinds would lighten the whole room and white bookshelves would be really excellent. A rug is essential but keep it cool too like the John Lewis multi stripe grey/neutral. A print or prints are a good idea and with the neutral scheme you could have anything you liked and pick out a pop of colour from the artwork and add to the cushions. The mirror is definitely too big and too gold. If you want to keep it hang it landscape and tone it right down dry brushing silver leaf over the gold but it’s a good place for a striking piece of artwork you like. Comments (13)I disagree with the greys being too much. My daughter has just had a kitchen and the worktops are the same colour as the cupboards, looks amazing and more seemless. I think if you colour match the worktop to the cupboards it will look a lot better. I also think that if you were to do some de-cluttering, change the toaster, kettle, etc for the Duck egg to match the little pots on the window sill, then that would help. Boxing in the pipes is an absolute must to make it look tidy. I can't think why they've got kinks in them. They need straightening by a plumber and boxing in to hide them. I don't think the scheme will go with the flooring and that it should be change for pale gloss grey to bounce the light around. The finish on the cupboards should also be glossy for the same reason.
