Need help with type of new kitchen for old house
Comments (5)My goodness, that's more like a banqueting hall than a kitchen! Lol. (I'm slightly jealous if u can't tell ) That's a difficult one to decide given the style of the room. I've had ultra modern kitchens in a victorian house before but it didn't have as much character as this room. I think as long as you style it right, and work in perhaps more contemporary colours then a modern kitchen would work. Of course a traditional kitchen would suit it down to the ground so perhaps you could even go for a blend of the two. Agas work well with mixing styles and they come in loads of colours. Having just had a new kitchen myself, I would advise looking at pictures and seeing what takes your fancy. Rather than trying to fit a kitchen into the room, it will give you chance to work out what u really want from it and how you envisage it. A good kitchen company will then be able to help you choose the right one that will work. Re sitting area - you have the space and its a perfect place for seating/chilling room....See Moreplease help with new kitchen diner layout!
Comments (7)Thanks for the replies. There is only 3 of us but we do use the dining table every day. Our current one won’t fit, so intend to buy an extending one when we move in. I did think about the under stairs cupboard, but it slopes and we need to keep school bags etc somewhere tidy! I was hoping to put the dining table in the breakfast area, the owners now have a round one in there along with a side board, so hopefully should fit. Thanks Jonathan, never thought of putting it that way! Will look into this...See MoreHelp for styling and furnishing a new build kitchen please
Comments (32)😂 You're welcome I'm just putting your ideas together in one place! I used the walnut table but as I said before I think it may need a rug against the dark floor but see what you think. The rug size may be do'able (8x10), you would need to tape it out when you're in the house so it doesn't encroach on the bar stool area. I have zero photoshop skills so just chose a rug I could edit in but just to give you an idea (Although obviously the table is the wrong way round!). Maybe have the clock over the table to zone it and bounce some light and some marble and brass shelves would look great by the breakfast bar?...See More1930's semi needs new kitchen, plumbing and layout help please!
Comments (3)Hi Rosey, Hope these answers help: There are plenty of different ways you could redesign the space so it would be good to get really clear on what you want to base designs on. For the drains this is not that unusual, and is likely to mean that it is a shared drain, so it's owned by your water utility company. This might be worth checking. Yes any raised external platform / patio would need planning permission and may be refused on the grounds of overlooking and reducing the neighbours privacy. I am running my Free 5 Day Get Ready to Redesign Challenge in a few weeks. You will find this useful because I created it to help people in the situation that you are in - feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start. So if you'd like to join in that you can do that here: https://www.i-architect.co.uk/readytoredesign.html I hope this helps! Jane, i-architect.co.uk...See MoreSynseal Group
