Help to liven up dull & boring stairs & landing
Comments (11)No expertise in this so it's just my opinion - have you considered changing your light bulbs to LEDs which you can get on the white light end of the spectrum - the natural light ones would make it less obvious that it was enclosed. The ones that fit into ordinary light sockets are relatively cheap now! The carpets are a great idea too but I appreciate that can be expensive (@Stairbox - your last picture is pretty much the same as the one I've just got and it did make the stairs feel much more exciting - white walls for light but interest on the floor). My other suggestion would be wall stickers - you've got some lovely blank spaces there - sometimes art can be expensive and if it's too wide it can feel like it's intruding in the hall space but wall stickers are cheap, flat and nobody would notice the stairs as they'd be too busy loving (or hating) your chosen images. Plus you can just take them off if you want a change. I like the ones with nature and movement but there's loads about!...See MoreHelp needed: Boring Bedroom
Comments (17)Hi The room is very angular a rectangle room with clean cut lines and clean plain flat tones. I look at this room and keep thinking beach . It looks a very calm room so gives me the impression of somewhere to retreat to after a day at the beach. Obviously that would not be the case but how exciting to bring the beach to this room. A nice relaxing view of the beach a total paradise room. If a big mural is too much then you could use the idea almost like a watercolour wash that flows past the windows ( not painting the windows) or use the colour theme blues and yellows with a stylistic curve line or simply find a piece of artwork in these colours and place between the windows. I would also consider adding a couple of accessories in these colours maybe cushions and even a swag voile which goes over both the 2 windows with the capacity to dip in between the 2. You could even have a radiator cover or shelf where you could place a nice vase and inject some colour with a large statement bouquet of flowers. If you want to keep the room more subtle ( without a splash of colour then i would echo the colour and texture of the bed throw you could find a nice wallpaper like a damask styling or something with a metallic tone and cut out something or collage several pieces frame it to make your own unique wall art. These are some ways I can see the room developing I hope I've given some inspiration to you I hope you find the right solution for yourself good luck and look forward to seeing pictures of the finished room. Enjoy Regards Marie....See MorePlease help with kitchen design, it just looks so dull!

Comments (11)This all depends on your budget for the project. In similar front gardens I have used galvanised water troughs from farm shops (Mole Valley have them at reasonable prices) and planted with nice structural bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra is one of my favourites) . Two troughs down each side will frame the house. Alternatively two large planters with either bay standards or, in a sunny aspect, olive standards (lollipop shape) either side of the door gives timeless and elegant style to the entrance. To ensure you get exactly the right garden at the back I recommend contacting a local garden designer to come and talk through some ideas. They will help work out your practical needs for the space and help maximise the budget....See Morestrawberry47
