Anthracite windows too dark

Hi there. we are looking to replace the windows on our property and also paint the front of the house including the porch. We have to choose between Anthracite Grey or White windows. I would really like the grey but not sure if they would be too dark for the style of our house. Also should we paint the porch to match the windows or use a more subtle colour and what colour would work best for the exterior walls?

Comments (9)I think grey would look fine. White would stand out and contrast too much with the roof tiles. If you notice, windows actually look dark from the outside when the lights are off anyway. Comments (5)We love those kind of extensions - loads of natural light flooding in from the roof lantern and bifolds and you will gain a valuable addition to the property that can be used comfortably all year round that will seamlessly link indoor and outdoor spaces when required. As already suggested, we think you should go for anthracite on both in and out. The look will be more contemporary (which you indicated you want) and the mix of styles already in the house will mean they will not look out of place. You may also save a significant extra cost and perhaps some of the lead time. I attach a mock-up of the indoor scene you posted with some greyed windows that should give some idea of what the colour will look like if not the style... For a reference, here is a pic of a similar extension you are having that uses a mix of anthracite bifold doors and roofing beams, but older style white windows... Hope it helps. Comments (13)If you’re looking for dark blues, look at Craig and Rose’s Payne’s Grey. Despite the name it is actually the most beautiful shade of deep blue with a hint of grey. I spent months agonising over blues but then got fed up in lockdown and got the Payne’s Grey, despite worrying that it would be too grey for such a dark corner. it is the perfect colour, and I’m looking forward to using it on walls elsewhere.
