Vinyl on upstairs landing?
Comments (9)I think that vinyl floors can look great. However if you have to overboard the floors to get a decent finish then it may not be that cost efficient. I would put the same polypropylene carpet everywhere and keep an offcut for when the bathroom needs replacing in 2 years...See MoreHelp! Lounge feels meh and needs a lift!
Comments (19)As someone mentioned, a less cluttered more simplistic TV cabinet would be a good place to start. I would not change the soft furnishings, I love the yellow, green and blue highlights and I think they help give the room a slightly retro feel. As many others in the forum have also said, a change in wall colour would really help, the idea of a soft sage green colour, similar to what Sonia has mentioned (above) would look lovely in your room, however it seems changing the wall colour is not something you wish to do right now. You have a gorgeous bay window, and replacing those net curtains with some quality roman blinds might be a good choice, I believe an off white colour or maybe a really light grey may help break up that caramel brown without adding any more bold colours to the mix. Alternatively an off white wooden venetian is also a popular choice for bay windows and would also really help enhance that room. I've put some suggestions below but you can always order blind samples to see for yourself. It's already a stylish lounge but a few minor changes could really take this room to the next level! https://www.makemyblinds.co.uk/rustic-weave-white.html https://www.makemyblinds.co.uk/rustic-weave-raincloud.html https://www.makemyblinds.co.uk/editions-ultra-pure-with-lilly-tape.html...See MoreIdeas to "perk up" my "meh" hallway....
Comments (11)I agree with Sonia but even if you can’t find doors, maybe having all the baskets the same (& full height) like the ones at the bottom would help. I do think the modern style of the storage clashes a little with the style of the hall you’re trying to create so I wouldn’t add wallpaper, etc to the storage units as I think it will draw attention rather than disguise it. So if the storage can’t change, play it down with either doors or identical neutral storage boxes. I like the mirror & think it suits the style but it looks a little big for that particular wall. For an accent colour, if you want one, maybe pick up on the teal / green / turquoise in your front door....See MoreMoving bathroom upstairs .. where to put it!!
Comments (4)Humm, what a difficult decision. I think perhaps you need a couple of agents to value it as it stands now as a 3 bed with downstairs bathroom vs a 2 bed with upstairs bathroom and more downstairs space. That will give you some idea if you will lose a lot of money just making it suitable for you and a good starting point. As a buyer - with no kids. I would rather have 2 bed and bathroom upstairs than the current setup. If I had children then that might change but do I want kids traipsing downstairs in the middle of the night to get to the toilet? Probably not either. I've found whatever you do, someone will want it different and if you are definately staying there for a few years and it doesn't devalue it much then you will gain the value back in enjoying your house more. Location wise - if you go with moving it upstairs, you might want to use the bedroom over the current kitchen for ease of plumbing as they will save money in the long run. If you keep it downstairs then you could look at moving the kitchen to the end so you have garden views and put the bathroom at the back of the old kitchen. If you could then squeeze at least a wc upstairs out of the smaller room (at the entrance so you don't cut up much of the bedroom) then that could work for having a wc in the night....See MoreNormanton Designs
