Where would I be able to find such over-sized rugs for my bedroom?

You can have a custom size carpet made to order. Try a carpet warehouse store where they have broadloom carpet on huge rolls ready to cut to size. They will bind the edges for a finished look.

This was a custom sized lambswool rug that does NOT come from a carpet store.It has the most amazing texture and touch.I can provide you these rugs that I buy wholesale from my trade resource.Otherwise you can take the advise feizlady.But the carpet will be bound on all sides and will look like wall to wall carpeting.

Forget red and green, never to be seen. I used this combination in this Victorian sitting room too. Usually I like to keep a 70/30 ratio between colours, when using rich saturated ones, so they don't both wrestle for attention. I'd recommend a green rug with touches of yellow to pick up your gold accents. The rug looks too small to me for even that, Celerygirl. Something the size of what M.A.T.H posted would possibly work. Regarding whether the size matters; Design is about making things work in the best way. What matters is debatable. It could be argued that any structure functioning as shelter is adequate. I think you feel it looks too solid is because you haven’t followed through with the rest of the room, for example cushions to tie in with it. Further up these comments minnie101 has suggested some black patterned cushions which i think would lift the scheme, however if you really don’t like it then follow your heart and return it. Why keep something you don’t like? Then choose a colour-way that you prefer, such as the blue you suggested. A blue coastal theme would tie in nicely with the neutral theme you have at the moment. By the way, i got a Turkish rug from Olney Carpets in Bucks, and they let us take it home for a week to see if we liked it before buying! True service, and yes we did buy it! Of course buying online does give you that option too. I wish you lots of luck.
