I concur with Ed, you're better off with a builder who will organise everything for you as he goes. But, generally, you :- Need to know where the plumbing and drainage work is going, Then you build your shell up ( the steel / the window work ) Then first fix plumbing and electrics, ( know where every light, lightswitch, socket cover and tap is going. Do the floor Put the kitchen in Finish the plumbing ( taps ) / Electrics (socket covers, lights ) Basically, you need to know down to the last light switch what is going where, plan for it meticulously, and you shouldn't go wrong! Thank you createperfect, that's a good idea. I'll be meeting my builder over the weekend to discuss options but I'm also going to the house tonight to have a look as they've laid out the cupboards as best they can. Hi Daisy, The wall units are 900 high so then they would need to be right up to the ceiling too to run in line with the tall units wouldn't they? I actually like units going right up to the ceiling anyway, I just worry how it will look with a thin plinth and whether all will line up. I don't think cutting down the tall units would work either as one of them is a swing out pantry so the internal wouldn't fit and that's the costly part. What do you think?

I agree with Minnie. Paint colour last. Try to get swatches of everything and look at them in your home, in different lights (day and night). It's amazing how different colours look in different lights. So what looks like grey in the shop, might look purple in your home. Also, hold the swatches together and hold the swatches in the direction they are going in. For example: carpet horizontal, sofa fabric vertical and horizontal, curtains vertical. Firstly Congratulations on your first home, well done! got to say I don’t really understand why there are two radiators in that room as big one will be enough I think…small room. put small folding extending dining table and chairs at bottom of stairs by window tucked away. Extra chairs can live in the cupboard and then extend table if you need too in the room. TV and computer desk could become a multi purpose unit…think bookcase with arm for extendable TV and computer in same place? Or knock out under the stairs as complete wasted space now and put your desk etc under there. TV on wall with a multi positional arm saves floor space. Can see TV from wherever you sit/eat then if you can afford it and don't really need a computer then get an ipad. Go on Pintrest for ideas and look at Ikea layouts , they have small spaces and make it work. Sofas are up to taste but keep a tape measure with you always… Lots of luck
