What do we do with this garden?
Comments (9)This is really a very nice space and your house is a "very very very fine house, with two cats in the yard..", lovely. If they are still small I would leave a big lawn for the kids, it also gives a good natural feel to the place with shrubs around and maybe a little treehouse for climbing and hiding. I would not do explicit round forms, because it looks artificial. But maybe it would be a good idea to first get some inspiration from garden books by your great garden designer Penelope Hobhouse or from "Family Garden", a book by the Royal Horticultural Society. The patio and the driveway look a little dull, because the pavement is very massive. Maybe some roses and Viburnum tinus against the house wall could break it up a little. I think decking doesn't go well with this type of house. The pavement itself looks neutral and easy keeping, so why bother replacing it. The garden looks neglected, but that doesn't mean it has to be redone from scratch....See MoreLooking for ideas for replacement front door, now an internal door
Comments (8)Thanks for all comments. I like PWJ architects idea, but think our space would not do that door justice. I love the bi-fold acoustic fabric panel and will investigate that further. I do want to replace the door with something as an add on porch, no matter how well insulated, will always allow a cold or hot bank of air coming into the hall....See MoreHow do I replace a Glass above the door?
Comments (19)Now I can see the whole thing I think its the first video. I think where the curve goes flat in to the frame is the line of the connection of the bead to the frame. can you try tapping a chisel or old screwdriver in to that joint, mid point is the easiest place to try....See MoreHouse exterior - where do we start!!!
Comments (7)I think a lick of masonry paint would be a good idea. You could go down the cream/white route, but I wonder if a pale terracotta would look nice? A grey-green door seems to sit well with the abundance of red pavers. The wall on the right with the missing capping is quite high. I wonder if it could be lowered a little, but I understand you don’t want anyone tipping over the edge! Here’s some colours. Of course you may hate the pale terracotta so I’ve added a sage green which is a Sandtex masonry paint shade....See MoreRockin' Fine Finish
