Where do I start on hall stairs and landing

I have a new build property so it's a blank canvas I love greys silver and white at the mo and looking to decorate in these colours.
changing the carpet from cream to grey I'd love some ideas please

Comments (9)Thank you for your ideas, minnie - I wish we could keep the wallpaper, as it is (or was) nice. Unfortunately, it is very 'tired' and looks dirty. We are definitely getting a carpet for the stairs, and unfortunately, we can't afford to put new wallpaper up, at the moment - we have enough magnolia paint (donated to us) to do the whole area, but I wanted to add a touch of soft colour to it. Comments (2)Hello Stuart_Smith4711, Just reading your dilemma, it seems you have great options here, but naturally it comes down to a budget at the end of all ideas! These are some of my thoughts and options: Option 1: You could keep the contrasting spectrum of light and dark, which adds appeal but maybe change the colours altogether just to mix it up a bit. Option 2: It seems from your photos that you don't have much light around the stairways. You could change the darker spectrum to a lighter spectrum as well. This will bounce more light around those shady areas of the stairways. Option 3: Get a wallpaper mural, whether for just for the lighter spectrum or both. This will create "another world" between the floors of your house, which will be interesting as you pass through. Option 4: Hang your eclectic art pieces as you wish along the stairways walls. Perhaps theming them up or down the stairs by size, soft colours to bright colours, etc. Option 5: Buy some new artwork for a change of scenery. Option 6: Have some bespoke artwork specifically created for complimentary or contrasting effect to your final decision of decor. Comments (4)Hi Tracey, Dulux can match many colours and their paints are really good. I wouldn't recommend Johnstone's unless you are willing to spend least on paint. Comments (15)Well what a coincident! Visited a friend yesterday who is having her hallway, stairs and landing painted on Monday and wanted my advice (!). She has chosen a Karndean style herringbone floor for her hall and a soft check stair carpet in a warm caramel colour. Staircase is oak and glass. Not much natural light in the hall. We looked through loads of paint charts but she didn’t want the expense of F&B or Little G. Then we both felt Dulux Caramel Latte or Caramel Blush would look good. She later bought some matchpots and loves both shades, so she’s having the Latte on one wall and the Blush on the rest. They are lovely warm tones with very appropriate names!...See More
