POLL: TV in the bedroom - yay or nay?
Comments (51)I had a TV in my bedroom for most of my adult life, because I was living in a house share or a studio. Whenever I've lived in my own home - which I have for the last fifteen years - and had a separate bedroom, I've not had a TV in the bedroom. I haven't had one for the last eight years and I would hate to have one again. It's sort of intrusive and it has a negative impact on my sleep. I have a radio next to my bed and will listen to that quietly because it can be soothing. I love watching TV, just not where I sleep....See MorePOLL: Wall murals - yay or nay?
Comments (16)This wall mural looks like it's for a kids room or space for a child to play/draw. If that's right, then the mural is very appropriate for the bright energetic feel it creates with its presence. Murals are one of my favourite formats of expressing bespoke art, because that's what they are, big, bold, in your face expressions of something personal to you! Bespoke artwork is what we specialise in, so maybe I can encourage you to have a look at our BESPOKE DESIGNS projects and website just to see other inspirational ideas. Comments (22)Whether or not to use a valance is dependent on the style of bed and the room it's in. I'm about to make up gathered valances for a client in a colourful fabric by Voyage Decoration. It will soften the hard lines of the wood bed frame and add lots of colour to the single beds. The same fabric is being used for the gathered valance on the large angled bay window. This Edwardian room can take the large areas of pattern and will benefit from the frilliness. In another room, I've specified a plain valance in a dobby weave with pleats at the corners and in the middle of the long sides of the bed. The room is elegant but simple. In another, more contemporary home, I've used upholstered bedsteads so no valances were required. Incidently, in the USA what we refer to as a bed valances is known as a dust ruffle. Yes it catches the dust, but throwing the valance in a washing machine quickly solves that problem....See MoreSonia
