Hi there,

There should not be an issue with overheating as there is an equal airflow gap around the TV.

Just a few ideas.. If you were to swap the sink and the hob, you would have more worktop space. If you shaved a little off the end of the peninsula, it would make the overall space larger. Are you planning the peninsula to also be a breakfast bar? If not, you could make it narrower (looks like 90cm at the moment?) so the sofa area would have more space. You could recess the TV into the long opposite wall to the sofa, (meaning you could also see it from the kitchen). You could paint that part of the wall dark so the TV doesn't dominate the room too much - it would define the area/break up a long empty wall.

I saw your question yesterday and wondered what clever solutions might be offered so I’m just bumping it. For me, I’m not sure. The most jarring thing to me in your drawing is the cupboards under tv. Also in any event I think the tv is placed too high for that sitting down relaxing space. I only like TVs set high in places where people are on their feet, like a games room or gym. Bet you’ll get better solutions offered soon though.

Recess mirror good or bad idea?

I have had a similar question recently as the property developer I was buying a house off of has recessed all of his mirrors, between 150 and 250 into the wall. I have just stayed at a hotel with a 590 deep vanity, and the mirror then on the rear of a 210mm shelf, giving a distance from the mirror of roughly 800mm. This was definitely too far and I needed to use the supplied shaving mirror to brush my teeth (I am short sighted). I am now going to delete all of the recessed mirrors to avoid this problem. I also cannot find many pictures of properly recessed mirrors on the Internet. I think this is because it is a bad idea.
