Need Help in locating granite worktop for my kitchen

I am finding it extremely difficult to find a light coloured granite worktop for a white gloss kitchen and would like to avoid the traditional Kasmir whites etc. I like something with a peachy light colour and have seen the perfect example in a photo of a kitchen on your website. It is called Solarius granite , counteredge, but I can't see what colour it is or where I would be able to purchase it from.

Would you be able to assist me please ?

Dawn this is a design forum and the pics on Houzz come from a multitude of sources. The picture that you found should have indicated it's source and the firm that sells it. I searched for the product and this page has a link to a few companies that sell it, but as we can't see where you are, we can't advise on those in your locale. solaris granite

If i were you i'd google 'solaris granite' and then narrow it down to your area. If you look at images of it, it's actually a lot darker than you think. It's a dark beige with brown veins.

Counteredge is a company on Houzz not part of the granite range. They sell Solaris Granite, which is the colour name you want.

I think you might like this colour better - Ivory Fantasy it's readily available from a lot of companies:- It's light and airy with the peach tones that you wanted.

I'm not where you live, but we do have samples including Ivory Fantasy in our showroom in Wokingham (Berkshire).

Hi Tom. There is so much to choose from: natural - including marble (needs a little more maintenance) and granite and non-natural materials, such as quartz or Corian. It is down to what kind of look you are wanting to achieve and whether you wish the floor to match the worktop or to compliment it. If you are looking for something maintenance free and with a modern look, then I guess man-made quartz is your best bet. Man-made quartz is Man-made quartz is achieved by mixing crushed quartz with poly-structural resin, and vacuum pressed. The result is a non-porous material with outstanding characteristics, which is suitable for many interior applications, including kitchen worktops. But this is only an option. Hi We have fitted Honed Granite kitchen worktops for our customers previously and for those who want the look but don't want the extra up keep of a honed finish then we offer customers the Sensa Moak which is a black suede finished granite which is has a great sealant and easier to look after. You should go with whatever suits your preferred way of working. If you have room for side by side with a work surface above and you like to fold in situ then go with that. Otherwise, stacked is very space efficient. Have you thought about the proximity to where and how any hand washing will be done? Will you be using the sink in the shower room. If so will it be big enough? Whatever you choose I would recommend having a dryer where the condensate drains via a hose into the washing machine outlet. No more emptying the reservoir or finding the dryer has stopped mid cycle cos it's full!

One or two observations: Oak breathes, in as much as when wet it will expand and when dry it shrinks, that's why it is good for boat and barrel building, when wet the gaps close up and make it watertight. What that means for a worktop is that unless the wood is stabilised (soaked through with epoxy) it will expand and contract, if glued to the granite that means when expanding it will warp, staying still where the glue is and bending downward, not much but it will. Perhaps a less porous wood could be better, bamboo is good, then, if the counter top end is flush, you could screw and/or glue a stout batten of matching material to the end of the counter to add support ( extend it out past the front of the counter to ad support to the overhang) then glue the block to the granite with epoxy and screw up through the batten.
