Hi, I would really like to know where I can implement a similar glass bannister for my loft conversion?

Thanks guys. Im going over later so will take a few more photos to better show the 'situation'. I like the idea of glass, I just dont want it to jarr. (the rest of the property is going to be exposed beams etc). Glass might look nice though.

glass gable details

my architect has come up this for my extension. which feature a small glass gable above bifolding doors. the beam is 203 already the with the addiional timber at the front and above total the beam depth between the gable and bi fold door to 290mm, which is way too large to make any sense for the gable to exist. is this construction detail reasonable? I can not understand the reason for the large timber in front of the steel beam. any particular purpose does it serve? can I just have a steel beam direct in between the gable and doors with aluminium cladding to cover the steel beam? the drawing look really strange to me as the gable is not even sitting on the steel beam which is suppose to support it!

Personally, i think it depends on what you are planning to do to the rest of the house. If the rest of the house is staying in a traditional style (like that is currently in your hall), i would keep it as it is lovely and would be in keeping. To do such a massive contrast may look a little odd. If, however, the rest of your house is (or you are planning it to be) modern, I would change it as it would be in keeping with the new style. Essentially i think it's a nice staircase but completely dependent upon what style the rest of the house either is or will be :)
