First home! Living room...
Comments (13)Congratulations, a really exciting time. At the moment your head will be racing and you will have so many ideas. I think you should make yourself a mood board of anything you see and like ( any scrap of paper from magazines to fabric or to photos you can snap on your phone). Sit down on a quiet night and close your eyes and feel the room and imagine what you can see open your eyes. have a drink of your choice and then start writing and looking at your board and this will help with what you would like to see in your room. This normally helps when you really are unsure. Enjoy....See MoreWhat's your favorite room in your house?
Comments (5)Bedroom - ours is as much a sitting room as the sitting room is. Our room on ground floor opposite kitchen. OH has been oncology patient for a number of years + so often rests in bed from early evening, watching TV, sorting out soccer fixtures, surfing the web for men's stuff (screw-drivers, power tools, sports results) + Lord alone knows what other chatting + texting. The kids got used to keeping him company especially the boys watching soccer with him. So kinda fell into a habit of all gathering in our room. New BIL felt very awkward first time he visited one afternoon. Sister marched straight into our bedroom + sat on the bed + joined us whilst her man hovered at the bedroom doorway very unsure about crossing the threshold into our room. After 5 mins of having to raise our voice to speak to him he was told to either get into the room or go back + sit in the car! He tentatively joined us after a few of our younger + adult kids wandered in + sat down. One of the best evenings was a late night boxing match we were geared up for. OH had been resting in bed for most of day but was awake + waiting for match, so all 9 of us ended up in the room - 7 in/on bed + 2 perched on chairs, with fizzles + popcorn. After all the pomp and drama in the lead up to the start of the first round ... Great roaring and shouting from us - Gwan my son + dirty move + what's the ref doing ... Ding Ding - end of Round 1! Looked at the OH - sound asleep amongst the mayhem!!!!...See MoreHow old were you when you bought your first home?
Comments (119)I was 24 and my husband to be 32, back in 1978, we paid £19,500 for a 3 bed terrace in south London. Our eldest son bought in 2001 when he was 19 and on a small Royal Navy salary whist at university, sadly he sold it to pay for his wedding and hasn't got back on the ladder since. Our middle son bought aged 23 and our daughter with her then boyfriend bought their first flat at 21 and 22 straight from university in 2008 with one of the last 100% mortgages, they move next week into their third property aged 29 & 30. It's always difficult to get on the ladder but the sooner you start the better. We all live in Surrey by the way and nobody has been funded by the bank of mum and dad....See MorePOLL: What do you see first in this image?
Comments (7)The pendant light, probably because of its interesting lattice-like design and the fact its hanging right in the centre!...See MoreHomebits
