Recess in bathrooms

Hi, as my bathroom is quiet compact I am thinking of having a recess in the wall to create storage. I have found a few ideas on the web which I quiet like but the pictures are quiet limited. Is this trend a new Trend ? and what is it more used in classic or a traditional bathroom.

Do you do you have space for a vanity unit? So much storage in them and hides clutter.

Hi daisy, I have got the room for a vanity but only a small one. I thought I could put the recess in bath area to store shampoos but I am not to sure if the room can carry this off.

I have LIFX lights in my house and I want to install a recessed light in the bathroom that also supports a LIFX BR30 bulb. This is so I can change the brightness and colour to change the atmosphere in the bathroom. I'd prefer to stick to LIFX bulbs as I have them in the rest of the house. When I'm searching though I'm finding it difficult to find any light fixtures that support a BR30 bulb, I'm guessing because it's not a widely supported bulb in the UK. The best I can find is a combined light fixture and fan is a Broan Nutone fan light, but I have no idea if this would in the UK and adheres to the correct regulations. It looks like I'd have to import it from the US thought. Can anyone offer some advice on this?

I have recessed lighting in our open plan kitchen diner and bathroom but no where else in the house. If you set the lights correctly with circuits it can create a great look and feel to the room. Check out this link to a blog called Mad About The House, in collaboration with Sally Storey - Lighting specialist, they devised information sessions for each area of the house. What is the construction of the wall where you hope to have the cabinets. If the wall is a stud construction, you could consider recessing the cabinet(s) so that the door(s) is (are) flush with the wall.
