Large bathroom but unusual shape...

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can plan my new bathroom? Would like a separate freestanding bath and shower but not sure where everything will go... the two cupboard areas need to stay as they hold the boiler and the washing machine.
Any ideas appreciated! Thanks!

Could you swap the sink and bath? On the photo it looks like there is plenty of room for a bath. Maybe a freestanding bath could go on an angle if the loo was moved, but you would need to check with a plumber if that is feasible. If there is not room for a fully freestanding bath, you could try a D shaped bath which fits against the wall but is double ended so giving the illusion of freestanding. Also, you could presumably fit a sink and separate shower in the space where your bath currently is. When I was trying to figure out my bathrooms, I used squared paper to draw out the room and cut out little shapes for the bath and loo etc so I could try different layouts.

It just occurred to me to say that before you go too far into trying to fit things into this space, speak to a plumber and see how feasible / costly it would be to move the cupboard by the window next to the one by the door (ie have the boiler and washing machine together. You could create a mini laundry cupboard behind doors which you then walk past to get into the main part of the bathroom. Freestanding bath would then fit in.

I believe that most of the expense in refurbishing a bathroom is in the labour. You can buy a very cheap toilet and sink, but it will cost you a lot to fit it in. To spend as little as possible, I would suggest painting the room a darker colour and see what you think. This will make a big difference. Perhaps a darker grey in the same tone as one of the colours in the tiles. The best thing about paint is that it is easy to change if you don't like it. You can replace the sink taps cheaply and if you can find a towel radiator that fits in the same plumbing spot that will save you plastering. You can replace the shower hose with a shiny new one and get a new clip to hold a new shower head on the wall. You can put a long, silver towel rail on the wall above the radiator and hang a nice, fluffy towel there! If you get a bigger, more modern (plain) mirror on the wall and move all of your personal items out of there the room will look less cluttered. Give it a mega good scrubbing as well and you will enjoy using your new room. Let me know when you want to refurbish the whole thing but for now that will make a low cost alternative. I suspect that there were originally two doors between the kitchen and bathroom. The interpretation of the regulations seems to have changed over time and the two door rule is no longer mandatory so it may be possible to take out the small square of dead space and to no longer have an L-shaped room. A bigger bathroom would obviously be easier to fit out. If you are set on having a separate shower there is enough room but you might well have to either move the toilet (quite possible but additional cost) or change the window size/position. I also think that there is room in there for your washing machine.

You absolutely have room for a wetroom - If everything is splashproof, imagine the shower without the quadrant enclosure, and a tanked floor with a couple of drain points. Try to avoid too much chrome in the splash zone as it watermarks. Bath, basin, loo etc smooth and white with no nooks/crannies for easy wiping down. We have an old school towel rail in ours, next to the shower, and the chrome does watermark so needs the odd polish. here are some pics of our master bathroom. 3m x 2m, admittedly with no loo in it. We could have fitted a loo had we made the shower zone a bit smaller and zoned with a clear screen as suggested above, but were lucky enough to have a separate WC.

What about the option I have sketched? It would work without touching the locations of the cupboards. Changing the doors to sliding would help with space if you chose to put the freestanding bath where illustrated.
