Help! Colour for a light & dark hallway & landing
Comments (0)Some more help please, this time for hallway, stairs & landing! We have a fairly light but small hallway, a light to dark stairway and a very light landing at one end to very dark at the other. Some advice on carpet and paint colours would be really helpful and how we can make best use of the larger part of the landing. We were thinking of getting a grey woven carpet for stairs & landing (our bedroom has a pale grey carpet and the kids rooms have a cream carpet) but not sure how to make best use of the light & dark areas. Thanks for your help!!...See MoreHelp! Light & dark hallway & landing
Comments (13)This carpet (2nd pic) may work with both carpets. I'd go for a runner for the stairs again, I think alternative flooring may do bespoke runners so you could add a colour border for the stairs. Alternatively a sisal Boucle or herringbone would suit the style of the house. I think you need to pick up a few samples. I agree a mirror by your bedroom door And swap to Roman blinds. You could add a chair on the landing as a reading spot or a chest of drawers with a lamp to store paperwork etc. Paint colours maybe look at farrow and ball clunch or slipper satin. It's hard to help with exact things as you don't have any ideabooks set up so no idea of styles or colours you like https://www.johnlewis.com/alternative-flooring-wool-iconic-chevron-loop-carpet/brooklyn/p1913816...See MorePaint colour suggestions for hallway, stairs and landing
Comments (28)Hiya, we have a Victorian hallway and it is done very similar to Rukmini’s first image. We have a greeny grey under the dado (including the skirting and dado itself) and on the doors and architraves. It’s Blanket by Paint & Paper library which is a little darker than Rukmini’s pic. Then an off white above the dado and on the ceiling. It used to be off white all over and the grey definitely has made it darker. On the other hand it also feels smarter and shows the marks less! Swings and roundabouts. I wouldn’t have three colours, I would pick one colour plus off white above the dado/picture rail (Pointing seems sensible!!) Your tiles look browny grey so would suggest looking at Ammonite by F&B and its family of colours - (Cornforth White, Purbeck Stone). See below for the F&B families of greys. If you want bluey or greeny greys then Paint & Paper Library are a good source but be careful to see if they will go with your tiles....See MoreDark hall, stairs and landing paint ideas
Comments (3)When you enter the house are the stairs immediately in front of you? Where do the doors either side lead to? I have stairs directly in front of the front door (no hall) and a living room on the right. My staircase gets most of the light from the glazed front door and the glazed living room door. Changing to glazed doors can really help with lighting. Sorry, I haven’t made any suggestions for colour! I’d personally just paint it in a brilliant white first and then decide on a colour later on....See MoreKatie Thomas
