Wondered what make and exact sample name the worktop is? Cheers!

Just looking for some ok effect (or maple) laminate worktop and this looks quite bright and distinctive compared to some of the rather drab samples I have seen so far... Thay-you

Thanks for your enquiry. It was from Howdens and it is now discontinued. Try doropal. Vety good laminates with similar colour ranges. http://www.duropal.co.uk/samples/

Hello jwstone, Most welcome :)).. Yes I rather think you will prefer a lighter worktop overall, it will compliment the island that you're having and also give the appearance of space... Wimbourne white is a nice white.. It is really a white though.. I used it for the inside of my front door.. So it may be that this is the way you want to go.. For overhead cupboards it will be nice.. (Or bottom) Have you thought about having touch open hinges.. ie no handles? This is also a very sleek option.. Or the cup handles are really nice too a nickel version... rather than chrome may be something you might like... Nickel is a favourite of mine.. Lovely chopping boards out of any off cuts! Wooden chopping boards too... lovely chrome toaster, A pot of rosemary or two.. Just had a thought.. There is a funny one (paint) called Aunty Maud by Fired Earth, you want the super Eggshell for the cabinets and any wood.. .. it too is quite white (I do rather like the name of it!) but I am loath to suggest more sample pots.. For anything colour wise on wood.. I'd paint the colour onto off cuts if you have any.. : ))

@queenofsuccess - I'm getting a better picture now, so we are looking for something that would keep the design in the contemporary brackets, but with a good dollop of homely warmth right? How about if you had the cream tiles around the kitchen area only, so from the white cabinets to the island, then from the brown ladder units to the island too and around it, so that the stools are on tiles. Sort of like a pavement, that would clearly separate the clean kitchen area from a nice hardwood floor in the rest of the room? In this case I would choose the colour of the wooden floor to contrast with white kitchen and cream tiles, but also to work with the walnut ladder units. I know you said your husband would like something light and I can totally understand him there. Light colours would definitely make the room brighter. When it comes to warmth I would suggest a nice oak panel, something along the lines of this: It is quite a challenge to make your idea work flawlessly. We have white kitchen units with near white worktops, part of the floor in cream tiles, walnut kitchen units and you want a fairly light hardwood floor to bring warmth into the room. I think that the only way to solve it well, would be if you could provide as much information on the final decor you want to achieve, the size of the room, natural light sources (i.e. windows, doors etc.), so we can try to find a best fit that will blend in with everything and work for you. mjp33: We got it thru a kitchen company I cannot recommend as they messed us up for 6 weeks getting wrong colour units or scratched ones, wrong appliances and the worktop took 6 weeks to arrive instead of 1. However the worktop independent company was based in Manchester, called 'Manchester Marble '(who also work for that kitchen company but they do private work), the worktop you see in our kitchen with installation cost us just over 2K. yes it was worth it. It adds luxury/value compare to fake, and does not react to any oils,wine or juices, unlike marble/granite. If you have any other practical Q, fire away.

Hi Rowen, I can't quite identify the knobs/handles in Claire's images (and there are quite a few others in this thread!), but we may be able to help source what you are looking for. We have a variety of hadle suppliers, but one of our favourite for "cup & knob" in a variety of lovely finishes is Crofts & Assinder - crofts.co.uk - a really great, British company with some lovely designs and finishes. Have a browse of the website and see if any are close to what you seek. If you give me an idea of which is the style you particularly like, happy to try and help.
