Boring 'cold' lounge
Comments (10)Hi Sally, You could wallpaper the ceiling and the wall opposite the window (or just the ceiling!) ; apply a complimentary colour to the other three (or all) walls and another colour for the cornicing, architraves and skirting to make these a bit of a feature. You could also replace the current curtains with full length ones that stack back further from the window to make it appear bigger and conceal the radiator. I think mid tone blues would make the room appear slightly cold, I would go for dark blues/ greys/rich browns. Farrow&Ball have a sumptuous selection of wallpapers and suggested complimentary paint colours so this could be a good place to start. I think these would look amazing in your living room: Feature Ceiling in Ocelot Wallpaper This is would look rather fabulous on the ceiling: Amime Wallpaper Good luck! Comments (37)There was a good article in Houzz recently about being bold with ceilings. Given you have plenty of height and light, you might be able to put the 'wow' factor in over your head by treating the ceiling as your 'accent' wall. Husband might not even notice. I'm having alarmingly tacky visions of warm-silver crackle glaze for some reason - maybe because of the new mirror...also, the brown leather sofas are quite depressing - could they be recovered in something lighter and brighter?...See MorePlease help with de-beiging my bedroom!
Comments (8)I must admit everything looks greige/taupe on my screen :) i don't know if this is too bright for you? The cushions are nearly half price from Oka ATM but quite dear still as they're silk. I think a chair would look great in the bay. I can't quite see but do you have stunnning views? If so, I might go for a swivel chair, this was a Dunelm one. I think I'd go for washed linen curtains for a different texture, they can look really elegant (the colour is out in my photoshopped ones!). I agree with E D, I think the wardrobes would look good painted as my half painted effort shows. I think the darker paint in Rinq's photoshop draws the attention from the carpet if you're not keen on the colour but if you wanted a light wall colour I think I'd try slipper satin or skimming stone although it may not differ a lot from what you have (note, I'm not good at colour though!)...See Moreboring lounge/diner
Comments (2)I can see a taupe shade on the walls in the room, similar to the colour in your curtains? Something like Dulux Egyptian Cotton or Farrow & Balls Skimming Stone. Then you can add artwork, as celerygirl suggests, picking up the blue in the sofa and the mustard cushions. However I think lovely big pieces of art would look great on the white walls.
