Fireplace tiles Art Deco/Arts and Crafts

We have just moved in the new house with the four fireplaces.

A few tiles are smashed and I need to replace them. The original tiles were made in England by the two companies, which no longer exist. So far the internet search (modern tiles/reproductions and ebay) didn't help. These are mottled mocha etc 10x10cm tiles.
Any advice? Many thanks.

We have a very similar fireplace, it's Art Deco style. My husband glued them together as we struggled to find a match. Not perfect but good enough we felt, so have a go!

It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. (I thought i'd posted a comment on that previously but obviously not!). I might also add a desk light there for working during winter months. So which room next?!

It does not require it but you would need to clean really well to get an even and clean covering. It usually needs more than one coat I find.. but you will need to see dependent on the colouring. It can be OK but only as a temporary fix and you need to take your time and do it properly as mistakes are really hard to change once you start painting - a run in it for example. It then also very noticeable. Personally if you hate it and it doesn't go with the new room your starting to create then I think go for it. It's a cost effective way to make you happy until you can change it later. I appreciate you can not see too well on the picture but these black tiles in this photo have been painted as the client was on a very tight budget and didn't want to rip the bright green ones off and start again! http://www.createperfect.co.uk/press?lightbox=dataItem-iqwcsy178 All the best, Gina

Oh I'd love something like that (only free-standing) for my bedroom! I'm struggling to find wardrobes to fit a nod to deco theme. We've got mirrored chests and bedside tables but I think a full-on mirrored wardrobe would be too much.
