Inspiration needed for new lounge
Comments (8)Thanks for the suggestions all. The photos (and 3 sofas in them) belong to the current owner and we're hoping they go with them! We'll be bringing 2x 2 seaters with us and ideally would like to accommodate those - as per the original post, one is a sofa bed so need to have something that works for pulling that out occasionally (maybe using it for the bottom left sofa in honeypoppet's suggestion)...See MoreNeed inspiration please to liven up our lounge!
Comments (9)It's a cosy room apart from the radiator wall. I would paint the alcoves very dark, so that the TV is not s dominant. I think a radiator cover, or painting the radiator in the same colour would help. Then get a big picture, or a wall hanging for that blank space. . I wonder if you could persuade your husband that a lower tv stand would allow for more comfortable viewing?, it is quite high. I don think a bigger tv would help....See MoreLounge/Diner inspiration needed
Comments (13)Thank you for your ideas, I'm happy to live with the grey for a while and see how the room feels. Also my layout idea was the top diagram, we have a radiator cover and was going to put the tv on the wall above it, it's not a huge flat screen. Originally before I decided to open the fireplace the tv was going to go there. I like the other layout too and do have a Queen Anne, maybe we can include it in the room instead, my furniture is dark wood that I thought of painting, here's the sideboard and queen Anne chair, I do have a coffee table which my dog chewed when he was a puppy hence painting the furniture....See More1960s UK house - lounge decor ideas needed!
Comments (9)Thanks Marina! I'm just not a fan of any modern fireplaces...sorry. I agree that the best place for the TV will likely be on that wall but would it look okay to one side maybe? I prefer paintings /mirrors as a feature rather than TV but as it's quite large it may be tricky. I have got the furniture already and the cupboard opens into the lounge which limits me slightly. I'd had similiar ideas for the layout and your professional looking drawing reassures me, thanks! I'll more than likely be having an electric fireplace, Sarah, yes 😊...See MoreJ.N.Rusticus
