Hey. I live in Copenhagen. I Like you picture, of your staircase.
May I use it on my website for staircases, and what would that cost?

Hi. I saw your dilemma earlier but I thought I needed a few more pics to offer any reasonable advice. As a way of getting things going, my first instinct is not to paint the staircase or the window frame as it looks like lovely wood (the tops of the posts are particularly nice and a bit different) and also not to use purple as your second colour because (1) you complain that it is dark and I don't think purple is going to help that, and (2) I think you would be better off picking a colour that is in your stained glass if you are really set on using a colour (I think I see green in there...are there any other colours in it?). A few more pictures would help to show the floor, the lighting and the hallway you are talking about. You've got some wonderful features in there and I would hate for you to cover them up.

Not sure of the stair construction, but that looks like a very large bulkhead. You may be able to gain some space back and at least get the boxing tighter to the stair - depending on how intrusive you want to get. Otherwise paint as you say, or add some lighting or build in some storage...just a quick brainstorm!

Dark Staircase with Dado Rail and Picture Rail

We are going to decorate our hall, stairs and landing which is quite dark with not a great deal of natural light. The HSL have a dado rail and a picture rail which give us 5 things to consider painting 1 ) the woodwork i.e. doorframes, skirting, dado and picture rails [the doors are pine] 2) Below the dado 3) Between dado and picture rail 4) Above picture rail 5) the ceiling The woodwork needs to be white, so my question is, what do you consider the best way of doing the wall and ceiling areas. Since it's a dark hallway, the colours have got to be on the lighter shades. Options are: 1) Darker colour under the dado, lighter shade between dado and picture rail and then white above picture rail and ceiling .... I'm not sure if this looks a bit dated and fussy these days with effectively three different colours on the wall. 2) Have the same colour above and below the dado rail and then white above picture rail and ceiling. 3) Have white under the dado rail, have a band of colour between dado and picture rail and then white above picture rail and ceiling 4) Same as 3, but having a very light off white under the dado and above picture rail and ceiling. Has anyone got any experience of having a dado and a picture rail and what did you decide to plump for? What is the modern way of looking at this? And the last question - I've been looking at some greys for this hallway, but I'm really not sure that my pine doors and grey paint make great bedfellows - again, opinions gratefully received. Stairs and landing carpet - colour ideas please

Try these people. Loads of herringbone and some quite bold ones too. They do pieces for the landing and turns. I had a runner from them. Prices are reasonable but you have to do the measuring yourself and send them a drawing if you want turns etc. Mine was quite a dark narrow staircase.
