Play hut

Hi there
Would you be able to give me the rough dimensions of this play hut please? I'm just trying to work out if we could fit something similar in our garden. Thank you - looks ace by the way! X

Hi Claire,

This play house was designed and custom build by us to fit with designed garden area. Dimensions are 1.8 x 1.8 m. 3m high

Hi. I would also paint it white. Perhaps something like farrow and ball James White which has a green undertone. I'd put a sofa under the short wall with the window. Agree with Carolins that an outdoor sofa may be best. This one is also from John Lewis and is a scandi style. I'd add a sheepskin throw over one arm and then add a couple of nature inspired scandi cushions with a bit of colour. You should also have room to add an arc lamp behind the sofa. Also agree re the stove which I'd put in the top left corner. You can get electric stoves with a faux flue which will make it look more authentic. I'd look for a slim glass or acrylic coffee table which visually won't take up much space maybe with a shelf underneath for some books. Add some faux stems on the table, I like the eucalyptus from Cox and Cox. I'd also add a chair in the spare corner but yet to find one suitable! Add a mirror or mirrors on the long wall to add more light and space, maybe some of the round ones on chains or leather straps. If you want a rug then I'd go for an outdoor one which may be more practical. Good luck, sounds like a fun project!

Hi i am happy you like my little garden retreat, you are right it is nice to add your own touch to your garden and not to be to regimental, it gives you a great satisfaction when you sit back in your garden lounger and think i created that, it also works out a lot cheaper, just adding bits at a time, and if a plant is not working for you, you can dig it out and move it knowing that you have not paid someone a fortune to put them in, i am not saying professional help is not needed as i had to get someone in to do my flag stones but it was someone i knew so that worked out cheaper and my brother did the decking at both side of my garden, he is not a professional he just likes DIY don't tell him but i think he is pretty good at it lol.. it cost me the price of the wood and 2 cans of beer,( i was given a couple or quotes of £450 for a 10ft x 7ft deck and £399 for a 7ft x 6ft deck,) i did paint it big mistake on my part as with being south facing it just peeled off with the heat but is nearly all off now so i will just power wash it once a year and give it an oil treatment, when you get your garden done send us a pic i for one would love to see your project,

I don't think wallpaper is a no no if you really want to make a statement but it will 'bring the walls' in a bit. I like them both - I prob prefer the blue Aegean but the green Honolulu palm is closer to your inspiration pic from melaniejade. She's only used it under her island; you could do something similar under the stairs to keep it more subtle. If you use the wallpaper you've probably got less to do in terms of all the layering up other decor items to achieve the look because the wallpaper will make such a bit impact on its own. Less of thr wallpaper, with a complementary colour on other walls, will allow you to build up the look (over time) it a textured and eclectic look so you wouldn't want to rush it anyway. About the hatch - making a feature of it is an option but the shelf over it (particularly the style of the shelf supports) is too country kitchen. How about something like the pics below? I like the style/wood in the first one (the drawers are great) but also like how the 2nd pic shows how you can widen the shelf past the opening (not sure if I like the top shelf or not - it could look a bit nafff? Also, one of your main concens was making the seating and dining area more separated in a small room. See how the coffee table positioning in melaniejade living room helps to do this. A rug would also help zone the space, once you'e picked your colours.

Too busy... our builder has been working on various smaller projects for us since 2016 - new staircase banister, massive issues with the front of the house, issues with the plumbing and heating, when we bought a house etc. He was always a available after hours when my heating played up and my husband worked abroad. He is working on the front of our house (phase 2 that involves replacing and k-rend) on the weekends. He is working in Richmond and Weybridge on massive projects during the week. We started our reno talks (new bathrooms incl structural work, heating, plumbing, rewiring, new flooring, doors, and chimney breast removals - still, a very small project for him) last July. We still haven’t seen the quote. We are completely prepared for an indication based on basic tiling, rather than textured fancy shapes, straight oak planks not parquet. Told him we did need to know the cost after Easter. Will see... fingers crossed etc ;( Air conditioning on the other hand - I was more successful (the first attempt - two companies never came back to me). Then I had three companies visiting for a survey and issuing the quotes the same evening.
