Front door dilemma
Comments (2)I had a similar situation, i went for a solidor composite door in a pale colour (to try and minimise heat absorbtion)... They advise to leave the door locked whenever possible (which activates retaining bolts top, middle, bottom) for the first month or so to prevent any future warping......See MoreGlazing advice needed for front door.
Comments (16)Hello, If you want to have panels made in the traditional way, its a straightforward thing to do, you would need the designs to be created in a sympathetic way to suit the existing designs and then have the designer make up the leaded panels for you. If you wanted them put into double glazed units, that can be done, but you would need to purchase new specific panels to enclose the leaded glass. Otherwise, its possible to just install either in place of the current panels or perhaps secondary glaze them. If you wanted to keep your double glazed panels you could apply decra lead to them, but its not a very good substitute really as it always looks artificial. Looking at what you have there, you are probably looking at around eight hundred pounds for both to be designed and made in the traditional way. Hope this helps, I am happy to help you out if you are having any difficulty or if you have any questions....See MoreFront door dilemma
Comments (22)Yes, do consider venetian blinds. They come in different materials and an endless array of colours ( decisions decisions...). I like them because they're versatile and practical in their use but, to my eye, still timelessly stylish, a,thought you i couldn't tell you wether they would suit your home's style. I'm referring to the pull up/down blinds and not the shutter-like ones as in Inna's photo, which might be good to consider too....See MoreFront and side door replacement dilemma
Comments (7)Sonia’s suggestions to make the more decorative architectural feature speak with a more formal front door will help the second door fade. Changing the second door to a style with no glass and putting frosting or privacy film on the window will say even more “this is not the entry”. If 2 new doors increases cost too much, you could privacy film the glass in the door in addition to the window. You will still have the access and light to the interior, but your more formal door will say “enter here”....See MoreVictoria
