Window dressing for a box bay window in the bedroom
We have a full length, square glazed bay window in our bedroom, the previous owners left the blinds for us. Whilst they are practical they give the room the feel of a 1980s office. I need something that's gives me the option of a light bright space during the day but can shut out all the light at night. should I layer blinds /curtains? thoughts? I've included an image of the bed & lamp, I haven't finished the rest of the room but I'm ultimately aiming for an asian/eclectic look. thanks in advance

Comments (27)I have decided that shutters/venetian blinds make rooms darker, gather dust and are fairly 'heavy' to look at, so, not for me. All others options are quite ok according to the situation of the property and personal taste. However, if you yourself like shutters or venetian blinds, then they are ok too, just don't expect me to have them. If so, a small track rail (like what is there at the moment) it probably best as it is slim and allow curtains to be out of the way of the door hinges when open. Otherwise, for a more minimalist look, you could get « clip on » blinds. Comments (3)You can get blinds that clip into the upvc window seals that could be effective here in the awkward space. Lots of places sell them. 7 years agoI'd go for Jali window panels that you have as window screens, the same as you would plantation shutters. You can buy them here jali panels for windows , all sorts of designs made to measure.
They'd look great with your bed and lamp, plus can be painted white to reflect more light.
