Comments (5)Rather than knocking walls completely, can you knock parts of wall A and B to achieve an open plan feel, but leaving some walls for units? It's hard to advise you though without seeing the full floor plan. Also, are you totally committed to a tall oven unit? Would you go for a built under oven?...See MoreOur Kitchen Design - what's wrong with it?
Comments (64)Although the kitchen is white, it is set into a return where there is little direct light from the very large window which casts shadows in the space making even a white kitchen look sombre by contrast. I would suggest more powerful down lights at least 13W that would highlight and reflected off the stunning gloss units. Additionally you could add plinth lighting under the kitchen units. Cool white to keep it minimalist or RGB ribbon (red, green, blue, which would allow you to colour mix) which can give the kitchen a whole spectrum of characters depending on the colour you choose or both RGB and W to keep your options open. Ribbon light is also a low cost way to improve this space. Ensure you get nothing lower than 9W per metre as it may not have enough light output against the natural light from the window....See MoreKitchen design for our new build house
Comments (10)Thanks CreatePerfect for your interest in my project. I have a fairly good idea for the style which will be a painted Shaker kitchen with granite countertops. I also want to incorporate a large island and it's this that is causing me the most trouble! The reason is that on the long run of units on the back wall there will be a range cooker, set slightly out. Which is making it difficult to place where the island should be positioned as it makes the island offset. I think it's because of the shape of the back wall coming inwards next to the bifold doors. It's the lack of symmetry there that I'm struggling with...so this is where I need some inspiration. I would be grateful if you could give me an alternative that doesn't compromise my island! Hope this makes sense?...See MoreDesigning our kitchen/diner/family room
Comments (6)Two similar layouts: 1. Keep the fireplace, centre kitchen, small sofa's or corner sofa on the left. 2. Place kitchen where fireplace was, dining table and sofa's where you'd like them. No tv in either option, as there are two lounge/tv rooms already. Big island. Keep walkways open (no sofa in front of the entry for example). Move the utility door to create more wallspace....See MoreVeronika Lavey
