Comments (4)That sounds great. You can add the colours in through cushions, rug or wall art. I would personally stay away from the yellow lighting as it is on the picture. If you want a yellow lighting go for table lamps with yellow base rather than the shade. Also when you are choosing the fabrics, consider texture, not just plain. You can really express your personality through those. I would also try to balance the colours with a hint of orange. But this all will depend on the final choices you will make and how you will put the scheme together. Don't be afraid of adding colours into your scheme. There are no rules. Some work with 2 or 3 but I like working with 5 or even 6. Good luck!...See MoreLiving room: Mid-century modern classics or modern copies?
Comments (6)Hello Soren&faber, The question that answers whether original or reproduction is of course budget! I though am all for authenticity. In every respect possible that you can consider as a person, in life etc etc and one's things are no exception really.. I do though have to say if the budget can stretch to it. I would want an original for myself or for a client. Some reproductions are very good though, and so it pays to shop wisely! I have a mid century sofa, I have a pet name for it! (it isn't complimentary) It has two seams ie 3 pieces of fabric down the back which should be one piece of fabric really, that are coming apart at the seams as they're stretching badly, and it started almost immediately! SO... in my mind it is not built to last a lifetime! The purchase was based on what I could afford, but I might as well have put the money in the fireplace and set fire to it! I might have been warm and sitting on the floor but my sofa leaves me cold! : ))...See Moreidea for a modern type of living room. x
Comments (1)Hi Aamira, Lucky you to have that beautiful media unit! Such a lovely focal point of the room and really gives you a good basis to work around. Without knowing dimensions of the room or seeing the floorplan it’s a bit more tricky but I took a guess at where the door was and knocked up this quick layout for you. If it were me, this is what I would be aiming for! A large corner sofa, places against the wall with a large rug underneath and a coffee table on top. A floor lamp or large indoor plant in the recess next to the media unit. Depending on how much space is left at this end of the room, perhaps a little reading book with an armchair and sideboard or book case and lamp would look nice. Let me know what you think! Comments (3)I agree with Sonia, I’d be worried about loss of light, view and garden access. Is this the sort of thing you’re after? Would you consider having a single door from the hall (perhaps moving it too, not sure how accurate the plan is) and having an electric fire on that wall? Is keeping access to the dining room also a must?...See MoreMarina Drobot at Cinnamon Space
