Under stairs dilemma
Comments (19)I would always rather invest in stunning furniture than spend money on more permanent changes. In my experience you can make any space look great with the right furniture and decor. Rather than spend money on something structural I would work with the space you have with furniture that works better than the heavy farmhouse style. The nicest furniture in the room is the sideboard so I would build on that. I'd look at something like Gubi Beetle dining chairs to bring in an organic streak. Not cheap but cheaper than building in storage (the next best option) or enlarging the window which won't make much difference - and you can take them with you if you move! You could look at Made.com for a cheaper but complementary table. Then a decent lampshade - perhaps Tom Dixon Etch - a side lamp on the sideboard and lots of plants and pots to empathise the organic, cosy nature of the room. Finish with some pictures in the wall and you have a lovely, cosy, earthy room that feels like being down Alice's rabbit hole rather than under the stairs. Good luck....See MoreDo you have a cloakroom?
Comments (12)I'd love to go wild in my cloakroom, but I also have to store my Henry Hoover, steam mop, ironing board and a shed load of coats in there too! It drives me a bit bonkers. It's crying out for some gorgeous deep downpipe panelling and lovely owls of the world wallpaper, and a beautiful big mirror..... but instead I've got to figure out how to use every inch of space to hang coats and stored light bulbs, as well as having it as a useable toilet. My boys always seem to need to go at the same time :-D...See MoreDownstairs cloakroom
Comments (17)Hi, I posted some photos and floor plan on another thread awhile ago. Here is the link - https://www.houzz.co.uk/discussions/do-you-have-a-cloakroom-dsvw-vd~3409933?n=12 From recollection, the cost was about £8K which included having a new window put in and moving the electrics consumer unit. I had to pay an additional £2K to have the elec and gas meters moved outside. Remember to include heating in the new room otherwise it will only be used 8 months a year! I have found it very useful as my elderly parents now have difficulty with the stairs when they visit and the only other loo is in the bathroom. No problems until someone wants to spend a long time in the bath or to take ages doing their makeup....See MoreCloakroom toilet - need inspiration!
Comments (11)Hi Anna, we always love an idea of a cloakroom with pattern tiled floor. There is a great selection of tiles out there, but it can get overwhelming. In general when designing our client’s bathroom we like to stick to a few simple rules. 1. Pair pattern tiles with simple white metro tiles. 2. If you are painting the walls in a colour, then opt for grey or black&white pattern floor. 3. If you are keeping the walls neutral, you can have a pop of colour on the floor to make it stand out-our new favourite are the concrete hexagonal tiles in a green or blue colour. A big Instagram bathroom trend at the moment. We would be happy to help you with your bathroom renovation project. We provide you with free design and professional survey, supply of tiles and sanitary ware and organise our builders for the installation of your new cloakroom....See MorePeter Butler
