Comments (10)Mirrored wardrobe doors create the illusion of space in a small room (we had some from the Ikea Pax range - or maybe they were called Vikedal?). It really depends what you like colour-wise, how dramatic you want to be, what other colours you have in the house etc. but a suggestion would be to have a feature wall on the wall behind your bed - you can either do this with wallpaper and pick a colour out of it to paint the other walls or paint your walls neutral and paint the feature one a bolder colour. In our old bedroom we did two walls (the feature and the one opposite) a bolder colour than the rest and it worked well in my opinion. We had Egyptian cotton in our living room so if we do happen to have similar taste we did our bedroom in green tea (also Dulux, now discontinued but if you go to a Dulux decorator centre they'd be able to mix it for you). TVs mounted to the wall are like Marmite but as a suggestion this could save you some space and you could lose the drawers the TV is currently on. I don't know if you currently have underbed storage but if not this could be somewhere to put your belongings from the chest of drawers and the ones your TV is on. Have fun!...See MoreMaster Bedroom - I do not know where to start?!
Comments (12)Hi Claire. How much wardrobe space do you actually need? If you built in front of the ensuite with a faux door that would give you c7ft. I've found a pic showing what that would look like with the corridor. You could always add an extra freestanding wardrobe in the nursery or alternatively have wardrobes opposite the bed and obviously stop them c4ft short of the window. I think the bed could go on either long wall TBH and assuming you want a dressing table then have that opposite with a chair in the corner. I love shagreen ATM so would have a shagreen feature wall, this is by Osborne and little (2nd pic) and also comes in grey shades but there are a number around. Colour scheme I'd go for grey, mustard and linen shades with some black and brass for accessories. The dressing table (console) is by Shropshire design and I'd add a cube footstool to this. I think a wood floor looks good for a boudoir look, these 2 are vinyl planks by amtico and the dark colour would look great against brass. Lampshade is by Oka and chair by rowan and wren. Perhaps just pile up some pillows on the bed and add mustard velvet cushions with a draped faux fur throw. I'd add black framed art behind the bedside lamps and a tall potted plant by the doors would also look good. I'd probably just go for Roman blinds for the door and windows, you may be able to squeeze dress curtains with hold backs in too but looks as if they would slightly cover the radiators?...See MoreIdeas needed for my Master Bedroom
Comments (14)What a pretty room! How ornate do you want to go? How about a dado rail and panelling (look up "faux wainscoting" for a budget friendly DIY solution) in the same colour as the door frames and skirting, to go really old school and elegant? That sort of look suits a statement armchair perched in a corner. As others have said, that floral wallpaper/fabric is great in a bedroom (I think). In an adult bedroom, I'd go a bit nuts with this stuff, frankly. Easy enough to change if you decide to tone it down a bit. If you do it above some classic panelling, it would ameliorate the look. Otherwise, perhaps cool rustic luxury. Matt black lamps, brass, white marble, a stripped brick internal wall (messy but cheap to do). By the way, I am exactly in the same boat as you. We are just finishing the renovation of a Victorian house, and our master suite is the bit that needs to be finished. If it helps, I am genuinely torn between the two looks below. My wife prefers option one - she is a US east coaster, used to funky lofts and DC/NY chic. I like option two - I'm British and grew up with friends whose parents had rambling period country houses full of clutter and slightly bonkers decor, with the odd Spaniel ambling around. Option one: go cool. Option two: go big....See MoreWIN products from our Houzz of 2018 Master Bedroom Suite! NOW CLOSED
