Comments (67)Kalami in North East Corfu. Beautiful clear blue sea, bleached pebble beach dotted with driftwood overlooked by hills lined with ancient olive and pine trees. A couple of fabulous tavernas on the beach and a water taxi every evening to take you to one of the superb tavernas on the beach (literally) on Agni bay or Agios Stefanos. Grilled calamari, octopus stifado or king crab linguini eaten on a jetty overlooking the bay and the fishing boats - accompanied by a glass of excellent Corfiot wine. No large hotels, nightclubs or English pubs. Unspoilt just like the Greek islands used to be!...See MoreWhat's the smallest home you could live in?
Comments (10)I'm not sure my wife would go for that ! too claustrophobic. We're not so much about the space inside, although, my wife would argue that our house is perfect for just the two of us now the kids have gone, although we see a lot of our grandkids and need the space for all their paraphernalia. Our house is a little over 2200 square feet and after 16 years here, we still have to frequently have a good old spring clean to get rid of stuff we don't want or use or we run out of storage. We do however, require quite a good deal of outside space, our plot is around 12000 square feet, we're outside country folk, so big garden, big workshop etc, outside all day long!...See MoreWould you rather live in a one or multi-storey home ?
Comments (11)For many years my partner and lived in an apartment in Central London; and a couple of years ago when we started house-hunting we discovered - unsurprisingly - that in houses with stairs and a decent sized landing, a significant percentage of living space was - in our view - wasted. Yes, some people like the drama of an open staircase - but I'd rather use the upstairs space as a study and the downstairs as an extension to the kitchen. And besides - vacuuming stairs is a pain. Eventually we bought a bungalow - and touch wood, haven't looked back. One friend quipped that we'd bought a flat with a garden but without upstairs neighbours; while for us there's an easy progression of rooms leading into rooms - the flow from kitchen to dining to drawing room makes for relaxed entertaining, and the early morning amble from bedroom to coffee machine can happily be made in the dark. For some, bungalow living occurs when stairs become a problem - but for us, it was always about space and style....See Moretiredoldwoman
