Ensuite missed the mark
Comments (35)I wouldn't waste time repainting it; I like it and, as so many others have said, think it looks flat because it's not jazzed up with accessories. I'd use bolder towels - single colour in contrasting colours - and have bigger towels out. Put something interesting on the walls - ceramic works well in a bathroom and, again, bold colours. Others have suggested plants which I agree with. It just need accents. The floor colour ties in with the surface so I think you could get away with keeping it - you can draw the eye away from it with a dramatic bathmat or rug or similar - it's got to be easy clean/wash as it will get a lot of use. It needs tweaking, not major change....See MoreTile all the walls of our ensuite?
Comments (4)Hi there, was really interested by your post, as we are looking to bring a very similar set of tiles into one of our bathroom displays at our showroom! Our approach, though, is a bit different - we're opting for this on the floor and going for stone-effect porcelain tiles on the walls with just a narrow "band" of this in behind the shower itself. Part of the thinking is that while these tiles are very popular at present, we feel that they have a "shelf life", and it will be easier to redo a floor than a wall against which units, shower screens etc. have been mounted. In a smallish space (as our display "pod" will be, we find that a heavily patterned floor with simpler walls helps keep the space seem roomier - a heavily patterned wall can be a little oppresive after a while. At the end of the day, though, it has to be what you feel you want yourself....See MoreMaster Bedroom dormers storage and ensuite
Comments (6)I find it helps no end so would really recommend it if you can do it. It gives you a much better feel for the space - so where furniture would work, how much head room you have when standing at certain items and of course how lighting can affect the space. With the suite I showed you above in the planning stages of the project I added scale people to the model to show head heights and usability which may also help when you produce your model (or have it done)....See MoreEn-Suite sizing/layout help
Comments (78)Just thought I would update my post as the en suite is *almost finished. Only take 6 months (rolls eyes) and still a bit of cladding above the WC to finish and on the sink unit (same walnut cladding on the front) and of course I have to have a shower screen designed as it won’t take a standard shower door. Such fun. Will take some other angle pics over the weekend once it’s all tidied up and cleaned. Just struggling now with storage!! Only got a shallow space under the sink (25cm deep- 26cm at most) to put some drawers but I can’t find any. Got space on the wc side for a little bench seat with storage under so trying to work out the best colour/style that’s not too twee....See MoreUser 1
