Can't decide what to do with our music room wall, help please!

Hi, having some trouble deciding what to do with the blue feature wall in our music room. We had originally thought about 3 large poster size picture frames evenly spaced on the wall, however with the drum kit on the left hand side, not sure it will look quite right.

Any alternative design ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

The first photo shows the full wall and I have added the others to show the rest of the room.

Hello there, I like the colour you chose! I'm
working on a design for young musician right now and could share with
you some great ideas:

you could display old records on a wall, you do need a bit of colour like Red, Orange, Yellow or Brown

Colourful poster/canvas as a centre piece

Find local artist and get a graffiti on a wall or you can try it yourself

Or may be wall stickers

Or add some creative wall displays

I hope you will find one or two inspirations here ;) Don't forget to go with at least one bright colour, it should give you energy :)

How about painting over it with magnetic chalk paint and using it as a memo/ notice board for ideas, music, lyrics, whatever you choose! You can stick paper on it with magnets or write on it using chalk.

Sorry to disagree but I'd go for white. The grey tile looks cheap (sorry!) next to the marble tile and I think your eye will be drawn from the beautiful hexagonal floor tile onto the wall tile. In all honesty I saw your previous post and didn't comment because you didn't want marble on the wall but a marble metro tile would blend much better and not detract from the feature hexagonal floor.

If you’re really keen on metro tiles, i would choose the skinny white metro tiles but I’d put them in a herringbone pattern. Get a professional to do it and use a resin grout so that they are easier to keep clean. If you want something more practical, then go for big tiles with as little grout as possible. The patterned floor tiles are lovely! Definitely go with those!

I will have to have a look at the paint samples again as can’t remember all the tones. I’m sure we had Cornforth on our interior doors and it was a lilac tone grey in some lights? Anyone back that up? Nice colour but have to be careful what you pair it with. I don’t personally think you have to match your kitchen to your woodwork colour in the adjacent room unless you really like the colour and had envisaged it for your units? Re the finish. At least if you get them sprayed up locally, you can always pop a door over to get done which is cheaper than having to buy a new door via the kitchen company. That’s the only reason I wanted to paint my own units ie because it’s so hard to touch up sprayed units as they just don’t blend in the same.

Hello Catrine What I would do is make sure the the color dormer and the wall lighter non obtrusive colow. and go for statement colours on the garage door. The door would be either a Banana Yellow, Garden Pink or Cool Breeze color. What I would do is make sure the the colorer the walls lighter and go for statement colours on the door. The dormer and wall would either be a cool grey/Dark grey or a darker slate colour. Let us know how it goes and share the after pictures

This is a room in our old house. I got a black and white print of my kids blown up and framed in an ikea frame. They happened to have leather jackets on and it looked a bit vintage.

Why does the drum kit have to be so tightly in the corner? It looks very squeezed in but with a bit of space nearby. I'd move it into the middle, as far as you can. Replace the bean bag with a small but funky sofa or big comfy chair. Rearrange the instruments - they seem too formal. Paint the walls a dark, moody colour and cover them with fun stuff - ideas above are great. It's all a bit sedate and uncreative yet the room's purpose is creative. Go wild!

Love the room! Love the colours! It's a great space- perhaps you can frame and display vintage concert/ festival photos (or even records)? Also, I bought several amazing prints from these guys at the London Design Festival- https://www.wearedorothy.com/shop - they are unique, eye-catching, interesting and beautiful in person.

I'd also suggest the drum kit in the middle and two picture frame displays either side with the frames hung within a symmetrical plan. Someone like me could draw portraits of music artists you love richardandrew.org

Go wild with some acoustic treatment. You can stay with the same dark colour palette (e.g.: grey/black/blue), or you can be bold and bright. There are loads of options out there and they really add character to a room. Can/should be applied to the ceiling as well. Convoluted foam starts from around £3.75 a square panel. Not only will the room look great, your music will sound better too. After initially reading this 'design dilemma' our first thoughts in the office were the use of some acoustic panels - so well done Henry Fix for your post!!

Incorporating these panels with some 'already' suggested vinyl graphics we think will make for a great space that 1) looks fun and 2) have better acoustic ability.

*** How about a large screen with a great sound system to watch gigs, festivals, favourite bands...?

My friend has a music room for his grand piano. He was playing in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall, took a photo of the audience and had it made into wallpaper! Genious!

You can hang on wall whatever you like i guess. I would start with a question, is your room soundproofing sorted? After the whole room sound insulation you can then put on wall number of different styles of acoustic panels. And make that way your own art. They are made flat poster look likes or textured like recording studios. I would start with that. Then there are many companies doing large prints so you can use your own photo or picture or notes to make your own personal wallpaper. Just an quick idea anyway:)
